Aperion Audio Launches Intimus: Next Generation Home Theater Speakers

TIGARD, OR, September 12, 2002 – Aperion Audio, a manufacturer and on- line retailer of award-winning home speaker systems, has created the first speaker in it’s new Intimus series.

The Intimus loudspeaker is specifically designed for both music and home theater applications. It is now available for audition and purchase in a variety of configurations at www.aperionaudio.com.

The new Intimus 522D, is the next-generation of Aperion’s acclaimed 502 and 512D, 2-way bookshelf speaker. It features customized drivers specifically designed for use with Aperion’s enhanced DiAural® crossover. Other improvements include upgraded gold-plated 5-way binding posts, a larger cabinet that extends bass response below 60Hz and an updated grill.

“This speaker simply has no peer in its price category,” said Aperion Audio CEO Winthrop Jeanfreau. “The sound is natural, effortless and dynamic. Early reviews of the system are astounding.”

Intimus loudspeakers sell for $180 each. Aperion also offers the speaker in a range of home theater configurations with its 8”, 10” or 12” powered subwoofers. Two to seven channel systems range from $759 to $1,859. Special discounts are available when customers purchase speakers systems with Onkyo electronics at the Aperion on-line store.

Like Aperion’s previous speakers, Intimus’ cabinetry is engineered for dynamic sound and clean aesthetics. Intimus loudspeakers feature a 1” thick HDF (high density fiberboard) enclosure that is internally braced and covered in real cherry wood or a high gloss black painted finish.

“The Intimus series is born out of our desire to build the ultimate, affordable loudspeaker. We have created a product that sounds better, looks better and is a better value than anything in it’s price range.” said Jeanfreau.

Aperion Audio is proving that demanding consumers will purchase high- performance home theater speakers on the Internet. Jeanfreau says the company’s retail sales model is built on the belief that customers should audition speakers in their own home with their own components. Customers can try speakers in their “real world” risk-free under Aperion’s 30-day money-back guarantee. Aperion supports the audition with thorough on- line and telephone technical support to ensure testers become owners.

Aperion Audio speakers have been praised for their performance and value by the leading home theater enthusiast publications, and received awards from The Perfect Vision magazine and HomeTheaterSound.com. The company’s current speaker line includes 2-way bookshelf speakers and a trio of powered subwoofers. The bookshelf speakers —for front, center and surround channel applications — feature patented DiAural® circuitry in place of a conventional crossover to produce a more open and natural sound.

Founded in 1999 as EdgeAudio, Inc., Aperion Audio is based in Tigard, Oregon. The company’s products are sold worldwide exclusively at www.aperionaudio.comand through its factory store in Tigard.
