Stereophile Names Intimus 6T to 'Recommended Components' List for Loudspeaker Systems – April 2010

Professional Review Intimus 6T Tower Speaker March, 2010

Stereophile Magazine publishes an annual list of 'Recommended Components' where the "…Stereophile editors reveal the industry’s best audio gear."

"The 'sexy' Intimus 6T has a hefty front-ported cabinet made of 1"-thick high-density fiberboard, and uses a 1" tweeter and a pair of 6.5" woofers. It lacked some high-frequency air and midrange ambience, but offered an impressive ‘ability to render low-level dynamic nuances in an organic fashion,’ said BJR...Sold factory-direct with a 30-day money-back guarantee and a 10-year warranty."

CNET Reviews Aperion Home Audio Link – March 2010

Professional Review Aperion Home Audio Link™ System March, 2010

3 out of 5 Stars

…the Home Audio Link system proved robust enough, as we had neither issues with static nor dropouts in our 25 foot by 25-foot listening room, nor in our real world bedroom-to-living room test. Aperion quotes a 100 foot to 140 foot working line-of-sight radius. Judging from our experimentation, we'd support such a claim.”

“Finally, the Home Audio Link surprised us with another bit of functionality that we've yet to see in any wireless streaming device. Instead of sending audio wirelessly, the Home Audio Link can also act as a wireless bridge for your receiver's subwoofer. You heard right, the kit can also function as a $150 wireless sub connector. While we can't fully endorse this as the only reason to buy the Home Audio Link, it does make for an interesting feature addition. Sure enough, the concept does work, and in the case of our testing, it worked well enough that we couldn't tell the difference between a wired sub and our Home Audio Link connection. Best of all, the included accessories allow the feature to work straight out of the box.

“…the Home Audio Link from Aperion is definitely an easy-to-use and very capable system….we'd have to put the Aperion at the top in terms of sound quality.”

About.com Reviews the Intimus 5B Bookshelf and the Bravus 8A Subwoofer – March 2010

Professional Review Intimus 5B Bookshelf Speaker March, 2010

About.com Rating: 4 out of 5 Stars “…the 5Bs had a very satisfying sound, good for easy or critical listening. The silk dome tweeter was crisp with plenty of detail but no edginess, and the midrange sounded open and transparent with very good dynamics.”

“The Intimus 5Bs are great for a modest, yet robust stereo system. That is, a modest price and a robust sound. Pair them with a receiver with 75-100 watts per channel and the Bravus 8A for a classy and affordable stereo system, or wall-mount the 5Bs as surround speakers in a home theater system.”

Professional Review Aperion Home Audio Link™ System February, 2010

“The Aperion Audio Home Audio Link system offers up a great deal of convenience in our ever-increasingly connected world. Like other wireless devices it gives the user the opportunity to connect multiple rooms without the need to snake wires thru walls, under carpets, or behind moulding. The fact that it can work with subwoofers and powered rear channel speakers makes it even more valuable. It is the most elegant and simple answer to those who desire to hear vast computer playlists on their main system without having to move the home office into the entertainment room. The HAL is now a “must have” for my home.”

Home Theater Review Reviews the Intimus 5T-DB Hybrid HD – January 2010

Professional Review Intimus 5T-DB Hybrid HD January, 2010

“This is a real speaker system, meant to produce big sound that equally produced an audiophile grade musical experience at more modest listening levels. Considering their price versus performance - even someone with $20,000 speakers parked in their living room would be impressed with the HD sound of this Aperion system. Overall, the system produces a massive soundstage that is truly immersive on both movies and music. Between the packaging, the well-written instructions, the included accessories and the stellar performance of these speakers, I can recommend them unequivocally. In the new economy and at these prices, these speakers just make sense.”

WINNER: Sound & Vision Magazine “2009 Editors’ Choice” Award – February

Professional Review Intimus 4B Harmony SA January, 2010

Sound & Vision has chosen their 20 Best Products of 2009 and the Aperion Intimus 4B Harmony SA system was a ‘Home-Theater Speaker System’ category winner.

“I like Aperion speakers for three reasons. First, they provide solid performance. Second, they offer amazing bang for the buck. Third, the company’s Web-based, direct-sale business model – with its risk-free audition and free shipping (both ways), full trade-up program, and generous warranty – is terrific. The Intimus 4B Harmony SA system is a great example of everything Aperion does well. If you blind-listened to this system (which has a combined price tag of $999), you’d swear that the speakers cost much more. And when you pulled off the blindfold, the appearance and build quality of the cabinetry might cause you to up your estimate…if you’re shopping on a budget (and who isn’t?), this system will amplify your purchasing power.”

GoodSound! “Great Buy” Award Given to the Intimus 4T Tower Speaker – November 2009

Professional Review Intimus 4T Tower Speaker November, 2009

“The Aperion 4T is a wonderful loudspeaker that could have easily been overlooked if sold through the traditional high-end retail establishment. For one thing, it’s small -- it looks almost puny -- and lacks the physical "presence" of the more impressively sized speakers it would no doubt be standing next to. In addition, it’s a truly neutral speaker designed to serve the music and avoid listener fatigue, qualities that are revealed only through the sort of extended and undisturbed listening sessions rarely offered by audio dealers. Yet have a pair (or more!) delivered to your home, as Aperion invites you to do, and see how easily they can be integrated into your lifestyle. The 4T asks little in terms of space, watts, or money, but play through them your favorite but imperfectly recorded LPs or CDs and they’ll make the most of the good that’s there while downplaying the bad. In a world of cynical hi-fi gear, the Aperion 4T is a true optimist. Highly recommended!”

Enjoy the Music.com “Best of 2009” Award for Loudspeakers – Intimus 6T Tower Speaker – October 2009

Professional Review Intimus 6T Tower Speaker October, 2009

“I like 'em... .a lot. They do loads of stuff very well. That slight dip in the midbass I heard was easily compensated for by running some tubes somewhere in your system in front of the 6T's. Then again, that statement could simply be written off as one of my personal preferences in how I enjoy my music served up. The Aperion 6T's provide loads of quick, tight bass providing your amplifier is up to the task. The midrange is remarkably clean for reasonably priced speaker and the highs are clean and well extended. Weighing in at just under $1400, the 6T's present a tremendous value not to mention, killer sound.”

Affordable$$Audio Reviews the Intimus 6B Bookshelf Speaker – October 2009

Professional Review Intimus 6B Bookshelf Speaker October, 2009

“Bass frequencies with the Intimus 6B’s came to absolute life…One could feel the room pressure change above 85db…It’s the detailed notes that impressed me. The 6B’s are distinct in this regard, offering something that many monitors in the under $1k price range lack the ability to recreate.”

“I was quite impressed by the high frequency capabilities of the Intimus 6B’s…The result on the Intimus 6B’s is a natural presentation that belies its $700 a pair price tag.”

“…the Intimus 6B’s played well above their price point with ease. Give the credit to engineer/designer Ken Humphreys for finding the narrow sonic target.”

“The 6B’s present a naturalness and character that is quite rare for just $700 a pair. If you have an amplifier that offers up at least 75wpc of solid power and have 30 days of listening time to kill, give the 6B’s a tryout. Just don’t be surprised when you decide not to send them back as the Aperion Audio Intimus 6B’s offer up smoothness and detail at a bargain price that is hard to match.”

Big Picture Big Sound Reviews the Intimus 4B-BP Fusion SA System – September 2009

Professional Review Intimus 4B-BP Fusion SA September, 2009

Overall Rating: 3 out of 4 Stars
Value Rating: 3.5 out of 4 Stars

“…we also took the time to add a second pair of the 4Bs, set up as Front Height speakers for 7.1, and did a little testing to see how these fared with Dolby ProLogic IIz decoding on the Denon receiver. The results were pretty impressive, notably with the expanded soundscape. The front of our listening room turned into a virtual wall of sound…”

  • Solid craftsmanship and excellent materials
  • Reasonable sized satellite speakers
  • Subwoofer delivers serious low end
“With its furniture-grade piano finish and sleek design the Aperion Intimus 4B-BP Fusion SA system looks like a million bucks, but this system almost sounds like it too. While the satellites and center speaker don't quite match up visually, together the 5.1 system packs quite an audio punch.”

EngadgetHD Reviews the Intimus 4BP Surround Speaker – August 2009

Professional Review Intimus 4B-BP Fusion SA August, 2009

The 4BP is a component of the Intimus 4B-BP Fusion SA system.

“Whether you like your surround speakers in monopolar, bipolar, or dipolar flavor, there's no disputing the fact that you need real surround channels to get the full theater effect. The problem is that they need space in your room, and if you opt for something other than a monopole, they tend to get creep towards "eyesore" territory. Internet retailer Aperion Audio has dished up its 4BP bipolar surrounds for just such cases -- measuring only 5x12.5x5.8-inches, it's about as small as you'll get for a bipolar design, and Aperion crammed a pair of 1-inch silk tweeters and a 4-inch mid/woof into the small breadbox of a speaker. Pity it couldn't fit a bipole/dipole switch in there, but at $199 each and good-looking to boot, it's hard to complain. Our advice -- if you're holding out for a small surround speaker, downplay the "monopole/bipole for music, dipole for theater" wisdom and consider giving these an audition and get going with surround sound!”

Sound & Vision Magazine “Certified and Recommended” the Intimus 4B Harmony SA System–September 2009

Professional Review Intimus 4B Harmony SA August, 2009

“The small size of these Intimus speakers belies their big-speaker sound. Throw in the feisty Bravus 8A subwoofer and you’ve got a highly competent compact system. Do good things come in small packages? You bet. And in small velvet bags, too.”

“A system that strikes a fine balance between size and substance – highly recommended for smaller rooms.”

“ * Highly accurate sound * Beautiful cabinetry * Excellent customer support”
