Audioholics Consumer Excellence Award for Lifestyle System – July 2013

Allaire ARIS Wireless Speaker

“We had a chance to listen to the Allaire ARIS Wireless Speaker system at our 2012 Audioholicd GTG, and were impressed with its sound quality and functionality. Featuring dual 1" tweeters, two active 4" drives, and two 4" passive radiators, it can put out some good sound. It has a 3.5mm jack so basically anything can hook up. But it's the upgradable wireless card that makes this unit truly unique. Unlike most wireless speaker systems, the ARIS is designed for Windows. For those people on the Microsoft ecosystem or with a new Windows 8 tablet, this is the speaker for you. For those with Android or iOS devices, the ARIS work with DLNA, so you're in luck too. Aperion's DLNA app allows you to stream content stored on your network to the ARIS.”

Digital Trends "Editors' Choice" Award Given to ARIS® Wireless Speaker System - November 2012

"8.5 out of 10."

"ARIS is a top-tier wireless speaker that was built to be versatile and future-proof (to the extent that any piece of electronics can be). Its audio performance is outstanding and reflects Aperion’s dedication to audiophile-grade sound quality. You can expect the ARIS will fill all but the most cavernous of rooms with gorgeous sound. That it has a way of looking good in just about any environment is another big plus. We gladly recommend this speaker and honor it with our Editor’s Choice award."

Home Theater Review "Best of 2011" - Best Affordable Speaker Winner: Aperion Audio Verus Grand

"The Aperion Audio Verus Grand look like Revels, cost less than Paradigms and are sold Internet-direct for well under $2,000. They have the audiophile chops to compete with any brand at the audio salon; they just don’t come with the audiophile attitude."

Home Theater Magazine Gives the Verus Grand Tower Hybrid XD a "Home Theater Top Pick"! - August 2011

Ratings:
Performance:4.5 out of 5
Value:5 out of 5
Build Quality: 5 out of 5

"The Verus Grand Towers continued to impress me on two-channel music...The Verus Grand Towers’ reproduction of detail was exceptional on good source material. With everything from the gentle sound of a brushed cymbal to the liveliness of a good vocal recording, they left little or nothing on the table. Imaging and depth (when captured in the recording) were also consistently convincing."

"With all 5.1 channels cooking, the result was superb. Dialogue, source permitting, sounded right. There was no evidence of an intelligibility-robbing, off-axis response suckout in the Verus Grand Center, which also stood up without complaint against the onslaught of action-heavy soundtracks. From Flight of the Phoenix (2004) to Star Trek (2009), nothing fazed either the Verus Grand Center or the rest of the system."

CNET Award

Digital Trends "Editors' Choice" Award Given to Aperion's Verus Forte Tower System - March 2011

"9 out of 10."

"Aperion's Verus Forte speakers, particularly the floor-standing tower model, offer an appreciable improvement over the company's already solid Intimus offerings. The differences between the two lines is most obvious in the high frequency section where the tweeters higher-power handling and lower frequency capabilities serve to make the speakers sound articulate, accurate and detailed enough to satisfy just about any critical listener. Their more stylistic cabinets add to the speaker's refinement and make a pleasant statement in a room. At $495.00 each, the Verus Forte Tower represents a very solid value, if a bit more expensive than the company’s Intimus line. We think these speakers will appeal to budget-audiophiles who want a speaker that challenges the law of diminishing returns by offering an incredibly refined, full bodied sound in an attractive package under the $1k price point. Add to the towers a very capable center channel and surrounds and you’ve got a surround speaker system that will most certainly be the envy of your friends and neighbors. Due to their excellent musicality, large sound in a small footprint and high value, the Verus Forte Towers earn our Editor's Choice Award."

GoodSound! “Great Buy” Award Goes to the Aperion Verus Grand Tower Speakers - March 2011

"...I can’t imagine being more impressed with an audio product than I was with the Verus Grand Tower. Aperion Audio has ticked off all the areas you'd want ticked off by a floorstanding loudspeaker: clean, textured, articulate, full-range sound; solid build quality and a beautiful finish; nice touches such as dual sets of binding posts and magnetically attached grilles; and a price well under $2000/pair."

"Reviewers sometimes like to speak of gateway products -- components that give consumers a taste of the high end, and that hopefully will make them want to further explore our hobby by buying more expensive products that perform even better. Well, Aperion's Verus Grand Tower is no mere gateway product. It ushers you inside, sits you down at the table, and invites you to participate fully in the music. This speaker is a tremendous performer and an even better value. I just love it. I think you would, too."

Intimus 4T Hybrid SD

Best mid-size speakers for the money
If you're serious about surround sound, you need to invest in a speaker system with some real gravitas--but most people just don't want the living room overrun with giant tower speakers. But the Aperion Intimus 4T Hybrid SD package manages to downsize the towers without sacrificing the sound. At just 34 inches tall and only 5 wide, these mini-towers gorgeous minitowers will fit into smaller rooms with no problems. "Best of 2010" Award Won by the Aperion SLIMstage Soundbar from Affordable$$Audio

"Finally, a sound bar that does everything in a straight-forward design that anyone can figure out. No degree from MIT needed to figure out this unit. With a built-in amplifier, the Slimstage 30 packs a punch that will keep both the condo/townhome owner and neighbors happy. The display screen fonts are easy on older eyes and the remote is both logical and intuitive. Typical of Aperion’s customer service-based core values, every possible cord/wire type is included, no need to run to Radio Shack. Best of all, it sounds terrific."

Audioholics’ “2010 Product of the Year” Award Bestowed upon Aperion’s New Verus Grand Speakers

“Although 2010 was kind of a grim year economically for most of us, the A/V world belted out high value products improving on last year predecessors at little to no cost added… Loudspeaker companies have also raised the bar by creating a more audiophile focus on their products. Aperion Audio's new Verus line is a shining example of this.”

“We've been hoping, and suggesting that Aperion Audio unveil a speaker line with higher audiophile aspirations. We knew they could do it, especially considering their existing lineup consists of quality crafted high performance products. Their new Verus line takes it to the next level however. Their specially designed tweeter is designed to play down much lower than most conventional dome designs with exceptional power handling. This allows the system to be crossed over at a lower frequency which improves off axis response by reducing beaming effects of the larger mid drivers as wavelengths become shorter than the cone diameter. We currently have their entire new Verus 5.0 system in for review and are finding it to sound exceptionally good with ample output capability, stunningly great imaging and lack of compression when really cranking it up loud. This is truly a great speaker line regardless of price, typically only found at brick and mortar stores but at internet direct pricing. Fit and finish are excellent and they just scream high end.”

Stereophile Names Intimus 6T to ‘Recommended Components’ List for Loudspeaker Systems – April 2010

Stereophile Magazine publishes an annual list of ‘Recommended Components’ where the “…Stereophile editors reveal the industry’s best audio gear.”

“The ‘sexy’ Intimus 6T has a hefty front-ported cabinet made of 1”-thick high-density fiberboard, and uses a 1” tweeter and a pair of 6.5” woofers. It lacked some high-frequency air and midrange ambience, but offered an impressive ‘ability to render low-level dynamic nuances in an organic fashion,’ said BJR...Sold factory-direct with a 30-day money-back guarantee and a 10-year warranty.”

Audioholics Consumer Excellence Award for Compact Subwoofers – February 2010

Aperion Audio Bravus 10D Powered Subwoofer

“The Aperion Bravus 10D subwoofer completes the Home Theater system by providing accurate low frequency reproduction, ranging from smooth musical bass tones to the immersive low end rumble that many movie enthusiasts expect from a much larger enclosure. The Bravus 10D's design incorporates dual 10-inch custom aluminum drivers that enable the performance of a typical 12-inch driver and cabinet design in a much smaller package. The subwoofer’s easy to use EQ presets, and user customizable EQ settings, with a remote control, let the music and movie enthusiast adjust the settings to quickly make up for differences in the content without leaving the listening position. Given its size and value, a serious bass head can easily integrate 2 or 4 of the Bravus 10D subwoofers to ensure every seat in their theater room provides an equally good tactile experience.”

Aperion Audio Intimus 6T Loudspeaker

"I like 'em... a lot. They do loads of stuff very well. That slight dip in the midbass I heard was easily compensated for by running some tubes somewhere in your system in front of the 6T's. Then again, that statement could simply be written off as one of my personal preferences in how I enjoy my music served up. The Aperion 6T's provide loads of quick, tight bass providing your amplifier is up to the task. The midrange is remarkably clean for reasonably priced speaker and the highs are clean and well extended. Weighing in at just under $1400, the 6T's present a tremendous value not to mention, killer sound."

CNET Award

GoodSound! "Great Buy" Award Given to the Intimus 4T Tower Speaker - November 2009

“The Aperion 4T is a wonderful loudspeaker that could have easily been overlooked if sold through the traditional high-end retail establishment. For one thing, it’s small -- it looks almost puny -- and lacks the physical "presence" of the more impressively sized speakers it would no doubt be standing next to. In addition, it’s a truly neutral speaker designed to serve the music and avoid listener fatigue, qualities that are revealed only through the sort of extended and undisturbed listening sessions rarely offered by audio dealers. Yet have a pair (or more!) delivered to your home, as Aperion invites you to do, and see how easily they can be integrated into your lifestyle. The 4T asks little in terms of space, watts, or money, but play through them your favorite but imperfectly recorded LPs or CDs and they’ll make the most of the good that’s there while downplaying the bad. In a world of cynical hi-fi gear, the Aperion 4T is a true optimist. Highly recommended!”

Winner: SoundStage! Network Reviewers’ Choice Award - Intimus 5T-DB Hybrid HD – July 2009

5T-DB Hybrid HD

“At first, I felt that the Aperion Intimus array, with its modest driver complement and exotic electronics was a bit too shy for the kind of music and movie duties our family room demands. I learned quickly, however, that cranking them up evoked an experience unlike any other. Simple switches of bipole to dipole and Music to Movies created subtly customized aural environments that were unavailable with any other surround-sound array we’ve had here. The Aperions’ fit’n’finish is terrific, and the company’s support (free shipping, home trial, warranty) is unsurpassed. The total price of the system reviewed, $2829, is competitive, given what’s included. Further, the Aperion website provides all sort of aids to help you select the right speaker for your environment, be it a room small, medium, or large.”

“These are marvelous products. If your speaker-system budget limit is around $3k, then I’d short-list them.”

“For movie playback, I give the Series 6 a big thumbs-up: These speakers can really sizzle, kick and punch on demanding soundtracks. And I was quite pleased with the system’s prowess with music, though the towers' somewhat pulled-back, relaxed midrange prevented me from falling completely in love. Still, quibbles aside, Aperion can't be faulted here for delivering very good sound and truly excellent value for the money.”

Aperion Audio Intimus 422 Harmony System

Rating: 96 (out of 100)

After allowing the speakers to play pretty much continuously for several days to allow them to "break in," the really serious auditioning began. Batman Begins was my first movie experience with the Intimus 422/S-8 system. This was a good choice for me because I had just watched this movie on my regular system. Without going into a lot of detail let me just say that my regular system has a whole lot more of everything (i.e. power, speaker size). To say I was pleasantly surprised would be an understatement. Soundstage, claity, and fullness were all more than expected. The first thing to catch my attention was the integration between the subwoofer and the satellites...

...Aperion, in my very humble opinion, is walking the walk. I have seen products costing up to three times as much as the Aperions, but I did not feel that they were any better quality."

Aperion Audio Intimus 532 Concert System

“Aperion's knockout package has survived a makeover and still offers great sound, superb build quality, and extraordinary value.

Aperion Audio's recipe for success couldn't be more straightforward: offer state-of-the-art customer service, build great-sounding speakers and sell them direct, via the Internet. By eliminating all of the middlemen's profits, Aperion offers a level of build quality rarely achieved at this price range. A couple of years ago, we were wowed by the sound (and the gorgeous looks) of the company's 522 bookshelf speaker. The company has tweaked it slightly and rechristened it as the 532. While messing with success is always a dicey proposition, we're happy to report the "newly voiced" Intimus surround system is not only as impressive as its predecessor, the sound quality is actually slightly improved.”

Aperion Audio Intimus 422 Harmony System

“From product packaging to product features and performance, Aperion Audio has impressed me big time. The product packaging and the accessories included truly show the company’s care for its customers. The build quality and the finish of the Intimus 422 speaker system, together with the S-8 and S-10 subwoofers, are excellent and about as good as you can get for the price. Versatile" is probably the right word to describe this system. With flexible placement and mounting options, and strong all-around performance, it was hard not to like this system. The Intimus 422/S-8 speaker system is one of the best compact systems I have ever tried. And if you are still not satisfied in the bass department, you can replace the S-8 subwoofer with the bigger S-10, which will give you lower bass extension and higher SPL capability. But regardless whether you choose to match the 422 speaker system with the S-8 or the S-10 subwoofer, you can be sure that you've made the right decision that value-wise is hard to beat. Highly recommended!"

Aperion Audio 532 Concert System

“"The sound that filled the room could have been coming from towers several times their size instead of these bookshelf speakers."

"The looks, performance and price of the Intimus 5.1 home theater system should make this a very attractive option for many home audio enthusiasts. It can stand up to the sound and power of many more expensive systems and won’t break the bank in doing so.

The well engineered system and quality components provide outstanding sound quality. For an installation where bookshelf speakers are desired or towers simply won’t fit, the Intimus 5.1 system should definitely be considered. "

"You owe it to yourself to experience audio like this in your home at least once in your life.

The Aperion Audio Intimus is a straightforward and affordable approach to high performance loudspeaker design—with a simple and elegant look reminiscent of high-end speakers and the performance to back it up. It’s clear that those people behind the Aperion name have affections for music and a taste for the finer things in life. Aperion Audio Intimus 5-Series Concert System

"These are special speakers, indeed—designed to breathe life into your films yet built at a shockingly low price point. The Aperion Audio 512D Home Theater and Music System is a no-brainer. If you’re in the market for an inexpensive but especially good speaker array that will satisfy for a long time, move this system to the top of your short list. If you’re not in the market, listen to them anyway just to see whether your more-expensive speaker system is suddenly missing a few licks."

EdgeAudio 502D and SW-12 Home-Theater Speaker System

“The EdgeAudio 502D and SW-12 combination provided me with a glimpse of just how much the wary shopper can buy these days. The system taken as a whole provides a dynamic, concise sound, with clarity that is refreshing. How much this is attributable to the DiAural crossover circuitry I can’t say. But I will tell you that the speakers are real performers in the home theater, and you get a serious finish that will enhance most decors.

Many consumers need a system that is unassuming and will fit in a small to moderate-sized room, but they don’t want to sacrifice quality of performance either. The EdgeAudio system bespeaks quality and fits the bill on many levels. You can get better sound, but this would mean larger speakers and more money. At the price point, I don’t see how you can go wrong with this system. For Home Theater & Sound, this means that EdgeAudio earns a hearty recommendation for anyone shopping in the sub-$1500 price range or above. Well done!”

EdgeAudio S-12 Subwoofer

"The winners have been selected because of their exceptional performance, value, or technological innovation, or because of a blend of these virtues..."

Best Subwoofer Under $750: EdgeAudio SW-12/320 ($599)

"Sold exclusively over the Internet from its manufacturer, EdgeAudio's SW-12/320 is, according to Tom Miller, "the gem of the system." Solid-wood cabinet construction, a 320W digital switching amplifier, and a 12" driver produce "a big, juicy bass sound with just enough heft to convincingly mimic true low bass."
