Hello and welcome to the forum!

We happen to be running a promo this month where if you buy a 5.1 receiver and a Marantz receiver we will give you $260 off an Intimus system, so in my opinion that makes getting everything from us a pretty attractive option.  Plus we carry Marantz because we think they are high quality and make our speakers sound great.  At the $1000 price point you mentioned the SR6005 would be a great choice to drive that system in a closed room up to 20X20 or so.  You can check that promo out here:

    http://www.aperionaudio.com/April2011.aspx

If you have your heart set on another brand I recommend both Denon and Onkyo and in your price range you could go with the 808 from Onkyo or the 3311 from Denon.

I hope that helps and I prefer amber ales, Belgians and German weissbiers!  Geeked

     Hey Steve,

In an open space like that I do think the 5Ts will probably be a better choice as the smaller Fortes won't contend with the opening quite as well.  However if you are sitting close to the fronts, say 8 or 9 feet or so and aren't concerned with really filling the entire area, the Fortes could work out well too.

A 10D sub will certainly help out with the bass, but the Fortes actually have a little more bass than the 5Ts.

That's correct, the 6C in cherry has been discontinued and I only have a couple months supply of 6Cs in black left, when those are sold they will be gone too.

We just got some stands in for the Forte Satellites, they should be hitting the site any day now.   Here's what they look like:

I hope that helps but please let me know if you have other questions, thanks!

    Re: help a new guy

I think you will like the 808--I've had mine since the beginning of the year--and yes--the fact that Onkyo allows discounting did influence my purchase but I find it a great receiver and am happy with the way it works with my VGTs--the best priced receiver in it's class.
