    Bravus 8d subwoofer

Anybody here own this Sub?  Is it worth $220 more than the S8. I think the s8 sub is a very nice subwoofer but was thinking about upgrading.

    Re: Bravus 8d subwoofer

I'm sure you were looking for responses from people who don't work at Aperion, but this lonely thread left me unable to resist...

There are some pretty significant upgrades from the classic line to the new Bravus line. The footprint of the subs is much smaller, the Bravus 8 being almost exactly 1 square foot. Since it has 2 drivers sharing that cabinetry, it has the fullness and output of a much larger sub. We wanted the Bravus line to sound on par with it's larger counterparts, so the Bravus 8 = Intimus S-10, Bravus 10 = Intimus S-12, etc.

The Bravus subs are all in sealed cabinets, so the bass is very articulate. You get very nice, defined, musical bass even in the much larger subs. Our 12 inch holds it together rather amazingly, and the 8 inch is just awesome for music. You also get really cool features like parametric EQ, and the ability to keep your butt firmly planted in your favorite chair while adjusting the volumes via your Bravus remote/Universal remote.

All in all, there are tons of features that make the new Bravus line very worth the price difference. Look into other subs that have similar features and you will see a price tag nearly double of what we charge. Hopefully you're able to give them a go.

    Re: Bravus 8d subwoofer

Hmmmm...I re-read your post and also noticed you were thinking about "upgrading" your sub. Actually subwoofers are not applicable to the Aperion upgrade program. You can read all the details here:

    http://www.aperionaudio.com/TradeUp.aspx

If you were going to be trading in your sub within the first 30 days of you owning it, then that would be ok, but that would be different then the upgrade program. Just an FYI I suppose...

    Re: Bravus 8d subwoofer

Thanks David, Actually I have ordered the Bravus 8. My s8 was still in the 30 day trial period, just waiting for them to come in, so no problem there. I mostly listen to music on my system so you saying the 8 inch is awesome for music really makes my day!. I really think the S8 is an awesome for the price so I can't wait to hear the bravus 8.  Thanks Again

    Masswood,

Just curios.  What didn't you like about your S8 that made you want to trade in for the Bravus 8D?

You Guys, I love the S8, I just thought a remote would be nice to have, And I have to admit I am very curious in the sound of the bravus sub.I can swing it money wise right now so I went ahead and did it.I can't think of anything I don't like about the S8, I guess I'M a speaker junkie.

    Re: Bravus 8d subwoofer

I'd guess the follow-up question would be - is there a 220v version with the right plug?

If you can't have fun doing it, it's probably not worth doing.

Unfortunately Aperion Audio does not offer shipping services outside the US. We do not have any international distributors, and shipping costs are too high. We do offer free shipping anywhere in the Continental US. If you have an international freight forwarder here in the US, we are happy to ship to them at no charge.

    Re: Bravus 8d subwoofer

    FYI:

Our subs come with Voltage switches that allow you to use them on 210V systems. However, we have opted not to include a Euro-style plug because our past efforts to do so ended in major headaches. I think we still have some handy though and I reckon if we're asked real, real nice-like , we could probably dig one up to send to an interested party  Wink

Hey Rockarruda, I won't stir the pot here but I will say this, The S8 is a way better value than the bravus 8. Keep in my mind that this my opinion. I just don't understand why Aperion stopped the production of the intimus line of subwoofers. especially in these hard economic times.

    Re: Bravus 8d subwoofer

    Hey Joe,

Thanks for sharing your opinion. We really do appreciate the honest feedback. I think it really comes down to use and preferences, like you mentioned. For me, the s8 is just not capable of the workload that I demand of my sub whereas the Bravus 8 can do it without breaking a sweat.  Anyway, I just wanted to assure you that we are certainly very sensitive to the state of the economy (I can personally vouch for that!) and we have some cool treats in the pipeline. Give us a little time and we'll come through!  Wink  Wink  Trust me.

    Re: Bravus 8d subwoofer

Thanks Caleb, Could You do me a favor and look into the Bravus8 That I returned and see if something was wrong with it. I know the remote did not work for one thing. I'M just curious, I could not get the same amount of bass as the s8 and I had it at level 20. Also I had to turn it up thru the reciever. Thanks
