I thought I'd take some photos pre and post upgrade to give people a look at the relative sizes of the 5T's vs. 6Ts and 5C vs 6C. First is the image of the 5T's and 5C:

You can use the TV stand as a guide for how much larger the 6C is from the 5C. Images were taken from the same seat.

4B's have been moved higher and farther from the seating area to give a much better feel. I found keeping the 4B's too close to the sides of the sofa made the movie sound funny from sitting at the ends of the sofa. Single sided speakers in the ear are no good and gave a poor soundfield. Moving the 4B's away and higher up has greatly improved the sound.

Looking good, nice to see that the Pioneer amp has made it's way into the set up!

You might think about shifting everything over to the right a bit to give that left tower a little more space from the wall.

Yes I still love the old pioneer. I think I may bring it in for a servicing to extend its life since I've been putting more use into it than the 805. I wish I knew how to solder and could replace the caps myself, but I've never tried and don't want to harm it. I think my picture didn't do justice to the left side. Here's another shot:

The front of the left tower is just in front of that "corner" wall piece but the wall extends another 2ft or so so it gets to open up without immediately reflecting on the side of the room.

Next time I have to pull the tv stand out I'll try shifting it. The TV stand now weights >100lbs because of the 805, 6C, and TV. Too heavy! I'm getting a rocketfish to try to set up speakers in the kitchen. When I get that I'll have reason to move the TV stand all the way out and can try it then.

Looking good, Jason!  In addition to the TV stand showing just how big the 6C is compared to the 5C, your 8D now looks dwarfed by the 6Ts (whereas the 8D looked proportional to the 5Ts).  Mysteriously, the bottom shelf of your TV stand appears to be succumbing to the increased weight of the 6C. 

I can personally attest to the size of the 6C. It is way bigger than I expected, but hey, it's an awesome center, really really awesome. I used a tape measure to measure up in my mind how big it was going to be, but it's hard to grasp it until it's in your possession. Nice 6T's Jason. I wish I could afford the upgrade. I want em so bad. Or just to even hear them. Oh well, the 6B's are satisfying my ears for now still.

You, my friend, have very good eyes. The shelf for the 6C on it is lower, but that's because I needed to drop the height do accommodate the larger center. Luckily the oppo DVD player is very thin . The only thing bowing on the stand is the lower shelf. I suppose having a 50lb receiver on your back for a year will do that to you. I've since placed the only thing I can think of which can support the weight under the shelf to help.... an organic chemistry textbook and shoved it back far enough you can't notice it unless you're digging around back there. The 8D does look considerably smaller with the 6T's. The 6T's aren't much taller but its their depth that I think really catches your eye. The 6C looks larger then the 8D, but I can't get bigger with the 8D since it by itself can shake the walls in my small apartment. I think anything larger and I wouldn't be able to use it for fear of shaking my neighbor's walls.

You're right about the 6C being huge. I also wanted to upgrade so I took my 5C out to make sure I could first fit it. Once I shuffled the shelves around enough I was amazed at the gaping hole in my TV stand that it would fit it. Looking at it now it JUST fits into the area. I have a bit of wiggle room on the sides but height I have 1/8 of an inch. I figured I'd do the upgrade since I went from 10/90 music/movies to 90/10 music/movies. It was hard to sell the fiancee but Jason Hicks offered me a deal on B stock that I couldn't resist. I still can't find what he found on 'em and have stopped trying. I'm interested in talking some people into getting some 6B's near me so I can hear what they sound like. From all the reviews they sound like stellar speakers. I'm thinking about another setup in a year or so and going with bookshelves. 6B's would be my pick with a pair of nice outlaw mono amps.

Jason - Very very nice set up.  Great to see vintage receivers like your Pioneer SX model alive and well. I still have my SX-850 (a model below yours I think) which I bought in Japan circa 1977.  Their performance, build quality and presence are  just viseral.

 The SX-850 has been in the shop only once and it resides in my younger sons room along with a pair of Sansui SP 5500 floor speakers.  Mint.  A trememdous set up 30 + years ago.  When my sons leaves and I get the WAF green light the Pioneer will moving to a new home in my HT.  For now let's say it's being very well preserved.  How does the sound differ with your Pioneer Vs. the other AVR?
