I have been reading reviews and wanting to buy the Panasonic 58" plasma. I was just wanting to know if anyone here has one and if they like it.

We've got a 50" Viera from 2007, not sure on the model number, but it looks great.  We've been very pleased with its performance.

    Consumer Reports likes it:

"Panasonic continues its winning ways with this 58-inch plasma. With rich, accurate colors and crisp detail, images jump off the screen, though you might notice some graininess in dark scenes viewed up close. The Panasonic would work well as the centerpiece of a quality home theater."

They also like the Samsung PN58A550 and the Pioneer PDP-6020FD (a 60").

In terms of quality, performance, reliability and value...Nobody does plasmas better than Panasonic.  Consumer reports has had them highly rated for a number of years.  I have a 50pz700U and love it.

I think Pioneer does plasma better than anybody. In fact, I think their Kuro line is the best line of any tv, but I don't even come close to smelling the budget needed to get one or see it coming in the future. Like most have already said, for performance and price, Panny is the clear winner in the plasma dept. I wanna 58", you're a lucky dude.

Can't go wrong with this plasma. Great performer for a great price. Use it for 100-200 hours, get a professional calibrationGeeked and you'll love it. Many people have their own 'break in' settings. I'd look around at the AVS forums for the what's and how's. Also for local calibrators.

I myself own a Kuro, but I must say it was a close call considering the price difference.

Yes. Kuro's are nice...But you're going to be paying a lot of $$$ for a shade or two of deeper blacks.  I think for the average mainstreem consumer, the differences aren't large enough to be appreciated, especially for the coin you're putting out. That being said, if you must have the absolute best picture quality that a plasma has to offer than go Kuro, if you want reliability and the second best picuture available go with Panasonic....

And make fun of me if you want. If you are serously on a budget or grandma or mom and pops are wanting a big/thin screen.  Take a look at what Vizio has to offer. They've come a long way and are starting to make some competent components.

Will not make fun! I have an LCD Vizio in the bedroom. That thing rocks. Took some tweaking on colors but looked good out of the box too.

Its really up to your own eyes and if you get a good deal. IF you really want the most options and the best picture out of box Kuro Elite. That's also if you won the lottery Stick out tongue

For my first HDTV I got the top of the line 47" 120Hz Vizio LCD for under a thousand.  Not the best blacks but the colors are very accurate.

    Cheers
