    Dual voice coils?

    Guru's,

Why 2.5 way for the new 6-lcr in-wall, and why are the other in-wall, in-celing speakers dual voice coil?  Probably is a simple answer.  Thanks.

    Re: Dual voice coils?

We went with a 2.5 half way because we could get a wider dispersion pattern and a little more bass out of it by crossing over the woofers at different points.

The dual voice coils allows us to add the bass EQ switch.  When you have the bass switch at -3 dB the second voice coil isn't used, at 0 dB it's engaged but with a 10 ohm resistor in line, and going to the +3 dB position removes that resistor from the circuit.
