    Indifferent [:|] 5C is huge!

all you people with dedicated media rooms will probably laugh at this post. however, i have my home theatre set up in my living room and so space is very precious and limited.

my 1 years anniversary of purchase is almost over so i decided to upgrade my system from Intimus 4T Hybrid SD to Intimus 4T-CB Hybrid SD. while the bipole 4BP surrounds aren't a drastic dimensional step over 4Bs, when i first saw the box for the center 5C, i thought aperion sent me a subwoofer by mistake. that thing, compared to 4C, is BIG! and i mean B-I-G. that thing is bigger than my 4T towers.

i actually started laughing with perplexity when i pulled it out of the box and compared it side-by-side to my 4C. i couldn't grasp what a huge difference there is between different classes of aperion speaker systems. it made me wonder how big the class 6 is. gee.

anyway, this isn't anything negative, rather, a bit startling. i can't comment on the sound quality yet as i'm still breaking the speakers in. i did just get the new star trek movie on blu-ray so i can't wait to unleash its reference-quality, dolby trueHD lossless 5.1 soundtrack onto the voluminous 5C and the 4BP bipoles.

i'm attaching a few pics of 4C versus 5C for your reference.

please reply with a listening comparison.  i'm trying to choose between these 2 speakers for a small-medium sized space.

boy are those speakers beautiful...and props to aperion for putting together a great website...

i must say, the difference is certainly noticeable. 5C provides fuller, deeper sound than 4C. it's one of those differences that you get to appreciate in certain moments - certain scenes in movies. i watched the day after tomorrow (blu-ray) the other day and together with 4BPs, the speakers created an incredibly immersive soundstage that drew me deep into the movie and kept me there until the very end. one memorable scene was in the airplane going through a massive turbulence. 8D made the room shake, 5C portrayed every clash and screech in perfect clarity and detail while the 4Ts and 4BPs completed the rest of the environment. i really felt like i was on the plane going through turbulence.

please note the price and size differences though. you're getting a much larger speaker that costs a lot more. while i'm going to keep the 5C, i can't really say it's a must-have upgrade over the already impressively potent 4C. i only upgraded because my 1-year purchase anniversary is about to arrive and i want future-proof speaker system in case i move to a larger place.

i'm attaching one more pic of the two units with speakers exposed.

A good picture would be the 4c, 5c and the 6c all stacked on each other.
Netflix will never run out of movies

i don't think i'll order a 6C anytime soon - i can't even image how big that looks in person. again, it's all relative so in a big room, 4C would probably look petite.
