    Need help with speaker setup.

    Attachment: ZApartment1.jpg

So I’m moved into my place and it looks like my setup is going to be tight.

On this living room diagram the space between the storage closet and the fireplace is about 90” – 92”.

My entertainment center is 64.75”. If I add in the two 6Ts it would total about 86” which only leaves a little room.

This is the only way I can set up my room. Do you think having the speakers so close to the wall and my entertainment center will hurt the speaker’s sound quality? I don’t want to kill my sound stage. Might have to find smaller towers.

Would a bookshelf offer more forgiveness for my not so optimal setup?

    Thanks for the help.

    Hello there,

Well ideally the 6Ts will have a foot to each side so it sounds like that won't be possible with that room configuration.  However I would give them a shot, it is difficult to predict how your room acoustics will affect the way the speakers ultimately sound.

A smaller profile speaker like a bookshelf will require less space, but you won't get the same broad soundfield and overall full sound that you get from a tower speaker.

    Hope that helps!

Do you think moving to something like the 5Ts might improve things? Would the 5T and the 6C pair okay? That is if it sounds weird to me. I still need to finish setting up things.

I ended up buying some acoustic panels from ATS. I'm getting two 24x24x2 and four 24x48x2 panels to help with treating my room.

Tigard huh?  I think I know you!  Geeked

Unfortunately not really, since the 5Ts are only an inch and a quarter thinner than the 6Ts.

You might try popping the bases off to make the 6Ts thinner.

Yes I do think you know me...

I just moved from Beaverton to Tigard. I'm actually off of Durham so I'm about 2-3 miles away from Aperion now hehehe.

Anyways first things first let me see what everything sounds like and I can go from there. I'm also still trying to figure out how to hide my sub in the room with out it being in the way. i love my new place just a bummer that my living room is smaller now. :-(

Yes i need to come buy and check out the other speakers just to compare.

Also on a side note I have a pair of 632-LRs that I'm not using at all. Do you know anybody that might want to buy them? If not I will try and sell them online somewhere.

    Thank you,

Nope, if it were me I'd keep them for a rainy day since they rock, but if you need to get rid of them I'd put them on audiogon or Ebay.  Craigslist is nice because you don't have to ship, but you'll probably get less for them there.

Bummer, I'll have to get together with our web admin to see if there's anything else we can do. . .

It's pretty lame that I have to dedicate time/resources to this, I mean do we even have enough traffic to make it worth their while?
