    RE: GO SOX!!!

It looks like it's going to be tight down the stretch.  None of the teams are giving in for the wildcard spot either.  The Red Sox  seem to play better against the Yankees than other teams this year, so as long as the can just get into the playoffs, there is hope.  ...and yes, Ortiz is on Fire!

    RE: GO SOX!!!

    Hello everyone.

I'm new to this web site. I've narrowed down my audio selection to include Aperion.

It seems though, there is a mult itude (darn computers) of Red Sox fans here! I grew up 5 miles from Fenway. Spent many a weekend in the bleachers. I'm not sure if you can call me a die hard anymore. I think I'm desesensitized. I've been through too much. Baseball however is a large part of my life. I have played and coached quite a bit. Now I photograph it.

Anyway, since I am an old time baseball type, I still don't believe the Sox will win anything until they either 1) tear down Fenway or 2) move the wall back 20 feet. That way they can stop trying to hit home runs and win championships. (Remember, defense and pitching win championships) :-) (check out the Celtics during the first 30 years of basketball and the Patriots of late.).

All that said, it is nice to see so many people that love the Sox.

    Vin

PS, oh yeah, all of my workstations, dating back to my first VAXstation have had a network name of YAZ8.

    RE: GO SOX!!!

    Hello Vin,

    Welcome to the Forum!

....and welcome to the Sox suffering

That sound like a great way to stay close to the game.  Do you photograph MLB games?  I think the reason why the Red Sox fans got excited this year is exactly because of the pitching.  Adding Schilling to the mix of the arms they added last year to the pen seemed encouraging.  The pitching has been strong, but not great and once you get past the 1,2 punch in the rotation, I think we can all see the weakness or at least inconsistency in the rest of the rotation.  So in a series where the rotation is shortened, I think they MAY actually have a shot....of course they still are the Red Sox....

    RE: GO SOX!!!

Vin, you are right on with comment 2.  They really need to learn to not rely on the HR to bring in the runs to win the game.  This happens way too often, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but without playing good defense and having strong pitching, relying on this sole aspect of the game, is.

    RE: GO SOX!!!

The pitching is not all that bad. The defense has been quite horrible. All it takes is one error to keep you from getting out of an inning and a pitcher like Derek Lowe will lose his composure. I was hoping between Schilling and Martinez that Lowe might mature.

Of course, in usual fashion, we'lll trade him and he'll be a superstar

The Sox are third in ERA in the American League. Second in hitting.  They are 12 (out of 14) in fielding.

Can't wait to watch the Patriots in HD :-)

    RE: GO SOX!!!

    Korey,

I haven't shot an MLB game yet. Other than bringing my camera to Fenway a few years ago. I do shoot some Division I sports. Some of the kids I've coached are playing at that level. If they are playing nearby, I'll run over and shoot them.

I mostly shoot high school as I have 6 neices that still play sports. I also help an equine photographer as well as another event photographer. I keep myself busy

    RE: GO SOX!!!

OK, It looks like they are PULLING me back into the AL East race excitement.  They are teasing us again, I am starting to have hope now that they are only 4-1/2 games back and 12 out of 13 games won.

The only problem is that the AL West teams are playing just as well, so the next 2 weeks will tell a big story with Anaheim, Texas and Oakland coming up.

    RE: GO SOX!!!

I hope the Yanks stay in their somewhat 'slump', and Boston takes over the AL East lead, putting the Yanks in wild card contention.  It would even be sweeter to see the Yanks not make the wild card.  It's hoping, but with the way Boston, Anaheim, Texas and Oakland are playing, it could be a possibility!

    RE: GO SOX!!!

The next 9 games are against Anaheim, Texas and Oakland. All 4 teams are red hot and playing great ball. It just doesn't get any better!

    RE: GO SOX!!!

Of course, I'd much rather see us 10 games ahead and all the others fighting for the wildcard

It has been a great season for baseball.

    RE: GO SOX!!!

Awwww....That was so sad to see the Yankees lose 22 - 0 to the Indians last night.  The worst loss in Yankee history!  Poor Yankees...

3 - 1/2 games now and the Yankee pitching is nowhere in sight.
