there's too much talk about metallica to me megadeth was always the real deal, new album  kicks ass .

if anyone wants to discuss all things metal (albums, bands) i'm the guy 90% of the music i listen to is metal and i'm eager to get to listen all my albums with my new aperion system

Hmm, I wasn't even aware that a new Megadeth album had come out.  I admit I kind of lost interest in Megadeth after Cryptic Writings- they started sounding too sterile and very few songs on that album did anything for me (so, that was the last album of theirs that I bought).  But thanks for the heads up on Endgame.  I think I'll give it a whirl.

Re: Any metalheads here want to talk?

I am a big death metal fan myself. Honestly to me most all of the bands listed imo are soft (Not hard enough for me). I often wonder how well the aperions can handle this style of music but it seems I will not be let down. I am anxious to place my order in approximately 1.5 weeks.  Since I want to be able to play unnecessarily loud sometimes I figured I would get the 6B since I wont really have room for the 6T. My subwoofer should be here in around a week (EPIK) so it won't be long until I can shake the walls in my house with Metal :)

Since all of you listed some bands you like I will post a few incase you are curious. Carnifex, Jobforacowboy, Emmure, Behemoth, White Chapel, and Through the Eyes of the Dead just to name a few.

My softer side I like would be Opeth, Epica, Kamelot, Iron Maiden, and Eluveitie.

Re: Any metalheads here want to talk?

metal sounds good but it could be better, they really shine playing just about any other genre. i was thinking of getting the emotive xpa-3 amplifier to give them that extra punch they need and maybe another sub.

I just got the 6t xd grand about a week ago maybe i just need to fully break them in perhaps the metal sound will improve then. On the other hand if i ask my neighbors they probably hate me now , i've been blasting some krisiun, overkill, death,   ... ohh yeah and how to forget the blue rays have bought nightwish "end of an era" , alice cooper and deep purple's live at montreux and they do sound great which makes me crave for some more blue rays

Hi. I am thinking of getting the 4T-CB Hybrid System. Although I anticipate mostly movies with it (like 80%) that could change the amount of music i listen to through the system if it translates my heavy music tastes well.

I love, Tool, Godsmack and of course Metallica. I have been around a long time though and listen to plenty of Sabbath, Priest,  etc.

Bands I seen more than once

    • Page & Plant
    • Metallica
    • Tool
    • Jerry Cantrell
    • Maiden
    • Scorpions
Current music that is in Heavy rotation for me includes Heaven and Hell, Perfect Circle, Army of Anyone, Orange Goblin and whatever Pandora picks out for me  :-)  I have also been revisiting Machine Head lately,

At the Gates ROCKS on my Aperions.  Slaughter of the Soul is one the all-time great albums from start to finish.

Re: Any metalheads here want to talk?

I agree 100% slaughter of the soul is a timeless classic, is right up there followed by dark tranquillity (the minds eye) and in flames (the jester race).

there're tons of melodeath bands but those are the albums that i find myself listening to all the time. some honorable mention are amon amarth (they have yet to release a bad album), gardenian, scar symmetry

Fear Factory help fry my old Pioneer speakers in about 1995! I loved Demanufature

Incredible band at the time, along with sepultura - Roots CD really trashed my old speakers.

I think Burn my Eyes by Machine Head contributed to the problem too

I like Mastodon musically, but i hate to say it - the singing is hard to take for long periods of time.
Same for chimaira, lamb of god, and Gorija (and many others) for that matter.

I also like all of Type Os old stuff, but i could not get into  Dead Again for some reason.

Scored tickets for Slayer Megadeath and Septulra at the Coliseum in Portland. I do not have alot of these guys work-

Any referrals for greatest albums (not greatest hits compilations) from these bands?

Marvsteen- You have the 6T XD Grand System from Aperion? You may have to start a new forum called 'Metal Gods'

I am listening to Shadows Fall, and mostly '5FDP' for new stuff-

Re: Any metalheads here want to talk?

Greatest releases are usually pretty subjective. I will answer for me, and i am sure we will have some different aswers too...

For Sepultura I really have to say 'Chaos AD' was their strongest metal release, and 'Roots' was their best for incorporating in Brazilian rhythms.
'Blood Rooted' also deserves honorable mention with some demos, outtakes, covers and alt versions. very very cool stuff.

Megadeth  that is a tough one, and for me I think that 'Rust in Peace' is by far musically their best.
'Countdown to Extinction' is very tight though and has some awesome songs.  Peace Sells was great at the time, and has a couple of iconic songs, but i do not know that it holds up well over time. Avoid "So Far, So Good....So What" it is pretty dreadful. You cant go wrong with 'Killing is my Business' too.

Slayer. I saved the most difficult for last. For me they really hit their groove in the first half of the 90s. 'Seasons in the Abyss' probably holds together the best as consistently great. There are some killer tracks there. However 'South of Heaven' is just relentless and pretty incredible. 'Reign in Blood' also cannot be discounted. 'Hell Awaits' has a couple of outstanding individual songs, but is not the best bang for your buck.

     my .02

+1 on Sepultura's Chaos AD and Megadeth's Rust in Peace.  In my opinion, these are the best full albums of what these bands have to offer.  I'm not familiar enough with Slayer's albums to make a recommendation (I only know certain songs).  Should be a sweet concert.

Re: Any metalheads here want to talk?

Hey palmer megadeth's countdown to extiction is the one album the got me hooked on heavy metal so that will always be my favorite deth' album so i would recomend it to be your starting point and then move forward to peace sells and rust in peace. So far so good so what is not as bad it has some classic songs on it just not as strong as the other albums.

When it comes to slayer most people will agree that reign in blood is their best but anything released in the 80s will do and if you really want to get a good idea of their live show get live undead one of my favorite live albums for sure.

I cant stand any sepultura after chaos ad so just work your way back, make sure you blast your aperions to" territory " thats a hell of a song will be stuck on your head for quite some time.

And if you still have an itch for thrash  metal after that get yourself testament "the gathering"  and some overkill perhaps "years of decay" or horrorscope" . One last piece of advice you could get the chaos ad remastered if you want but avoid the megadeth remasters at all cost as mustaine himself decided to do the job and they're simply bad stick to the originals just cranck the volume up and you'll be fine.

Happy hunting and have fun at the show i know u will.

Ah, Testament. The Ritual was a great record when it came out.

It was eclipsed by LOW which for me was the epitome of the band.

I know they had Thrashy stuff out before that, and continued on afterward

but with songs like DOG FACED GODS, Hail Mary, Shades of War etc it was just

a dynamite release.  They seemed like another band that never really got big, and

between shuffling line up and label problems (not to mention the grunge movement)

got a little lost in the mix of things. But Low is certainly outstanding

Maybe I should check out their more recent releases, I do not think I have gotten any of their

stuff in over a dozen years.

Pthoresen if you like low so much you are in for a pleasant surprise once you get to hear the gathering, they continue on that low sound with chuck's deathy vocals and take it to the next level with the help of a little fellow named dave lombardo behind the drum kit

Thanks for the heads up! i will get The Gathering!

Checked it out on Amazon and it seems to be right up my alley.

I had gotten Lombardo's Grip CD, but it was not quite for me. Fantastic drumming of course but i did not feel the songs held together.

Anyway, I also noticed The Gathering had gone out of Print, but it is available again - lucky for me!

Another band from back then that never quite broke huge was Metal Church. Half a dozen great records but not much traction gained. I know they had a couple of videos for Headbangers Ball back in the Day, and am not sure if they are still cranking out music anymore or not.

P.S I will listen to Reign in Blood a few times, but for me i do not think it can eclipse South of Heaven or Seasons.
Although i have it on vinyl so it does not get as much airtime so to speak.
