I was just thinking why not current 522D-PT with new HD-X3 . This would probably be better and less bulkier thatn 633-PT. I still prefer small and light speaker and i think current PT line is a good match.

    NewBuyer,

I posted a response to your question between 522-PT vs. 633 in another thread, but your post here clears up a few things.

While the 633 has a smoother and more seperated mid-range, I beleive that the 532-PT vs. the current 522-PT will get you closer in the smoothness, maybe not all the way there in the seperation in the mid-range due to the smaller driver.

If you are using a processor with direct 2-channel, I would strongly consider the PT for it's full range presentation.  It will go deeper than the 633, and you may give up a few small things to the 633, but gain a fuller presentation.  It just depends on your personal listening tastes and where your higher desires lie - fuller presentation, sweeter mid-range?

    Good luck in your decision!

    Very interesting discussion.

The 633-Ts are simply too big to please many wives.  Right now I would think that a 632 version of the PT would be the sweet spot for towers.  It would have the smaller footprint of the 522-PT and the single 6.5" midrange of the 632s. It seem that the only difference in the new PT over the previous is that it has the new crossover.  If a 632-PT was available now, I wouldn't be sitting on the fence between at pair of 533-PT or a 632/S-10 combo (see my other thread in this forum). They would be sitting in my shopping cart being processed right now!

I really like the idea of the  integrated system of the PT, but for music only application at least, I am concerned about some people's opinion that the current PT midrange is lacking.

I have never heard any of these speakers, but based on reviews and the obvious concern about quality and customer serive, I will definitely have a pair of something from Aperion soon! If I did make a choice now and Aperion came out with a new version within a year, I guess I could always trade-up.

    Ben -

Do you know when the 532HDX3 bookshelves are shipping?
