So I received my 422/S-8 setup yesterday and was very excited. Problem is....I don't have the mounts yet. So, the impatient person that I am, I decided to hook up the sub to my receiver (Denon 2105). I hooked up the sub into the "Subwoofer Pre-Out" on the back of the receiver. And then, using the "Y" cable, I connected the subwoofer cable into the back of the sub. Then, hooking up the power cable I hit the switch and the green light turned on. Since my system is still waiting for a couple things I turned on the radio, no sound. Hooked up my DVD player, no sound. I don't know what's going on at this point so I hook up the center channel speaker. I plug in the center channel and it fires right up, playing crystal clear sound, but the sub is still doing nothing. I went through the settings on the receiver a few times to make sure everything was configured properly, and it was. My question is, do I have a bad sub, a bad receiver, or am I just an idiot? Did I hook up anything wrong? I can't wait to get all these guys mounted, but this is really bumming me out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Steve

Make sure that you have enabled the subwoofer within the recievers setup.

 

Did you ever get it working?  I am looking the same unit up to a Yamaha receiver about 3 years old: RX-V795a

I have the sub stereo to mono cable run to an extension cable that then hooks in to the receiver's sub output.  With this setup I get no sound.  I went through the entire receiver setup to no avail.

If I hook the same cable up to the tape output of the reciever (using only mono doing this, right), I get it to work.  Any ideas what's up?
