    amplification for Intimus 533-PT towers

Just bought new Aperion Intimus 533-PT towers to use as stereo speakers (may xpand to the full home theater by building around them).  Do you think that my old Onkyo TX-SR304S receiver would provide enough power for them or should I look for sth bigger (like TX-SR604 with 105W at 8 ohm)?

I think it would be fine at regular listening levels.  Since the subwoofer in this tower has its own amplifier, the only thing you are driving is the mid/hi section.  These normally don't require massive ammounts of current like subwoofers do.  But, then again, it may be a good excuse to get something newer...Yes

I agree with Matt's synopsis here, Damian. At lower listening levels, the 304 should do just fine.

I've made comparisons between the 502 and 702 (models from two years ago, but with the same power supply and rated power as today's 504 and 704) and the difference is considerable once you get above a lower listening level. Depending on your listening habits, a higher model like the 604 or the ever-so-popular 674 will really deliver for you.

    Crank it.
