    Aperion SPL meter

Very cool that they supply one of these, but, just how good is it?

How does it compare with the somewhat-standard Radio Shack analog SPL meter?
Similar measurement results or different?  (I trust (??) that Aperion would make better quality stuff than Radio Shack...)

    Re: Aperion SPL meter

Don't dog the Radio Shack SPL's.  The radio shacks SPL's actually got good reviews and i just picked up a digital SPL on sale for $40. I actually called one of the Aperion Guru's to help me learn how to use it and they were very familar with the radio shack SPL.

One of the professional 5.1 system reviews on this site mentioned that they were impressed with Aperion's SPL but noticed it was like 2-3 DB's off in the 40-60HZ range.  Which I find reasonable, even my digital Radio shack SPL fluctuates when measuring my subwoofer levels.  Anyway, that Aperion SPL should give you what you need.  10 times better than measuring by ear.

Did you purchase it seperately or did it come as part of a 5.1 system purchase?  If so what did you purchase?

I purchased a complete 6.1 system just not all at once.  I then wanted to purchase this and they sent it to me for free!!  Thanks guys!!  It works great for what I need it for.. I even used it in my classroom when I was teaching decibels and it gave the kids a chance to hear what 80db's sounded like.

That's awesome! Hopefully when I order my sub I'll get a SPL meter to.
