I have a home audio box that is 12''l x 25.5''h x 16''w that houses three speakers: a 12" woofer, a 4'' mid-range and a 2'' tweeter. The speakers are in good shape but the original crossover suffered some damage and I experience quite a bit of sound loss in each of the speakers. While I consider myself fairly intelligent, after reading up on how to determine which crossover is appropriate for me, I completely acknowledge that on my own I will probably never know.
I understand that there are varying factors that can affect driver performance thus determing proper crossover selection, but I don't need my audio to be perfect, just pretty good.... Are there some basic steps that I can take to help me select a pre-made crossover? More specifically, how do I determine what order I need, my desired hertz range and octave spread? And I'm guessing that I would want a 3-way that handles an 8 ohm load?
Thanks for any help you give!
Chris
