Any love for the Onkyo TX-SR705?

Many Aperion users praise the Onkyo 805.  My current plan is to get a Onkyo 705 to power the Intimus 4T Hybrid SD speaker system.  Is there anything I should be concerned about regarding the 705 or is it well suited to meet the needs of the speakers?

You might want to look at the Onkyo xx6 models that are coming out.  Latest and greatest you know!

Actually, depending on what you're after, sticking to the xx5 models may be the better path. For instance, as far as audio is concerned, the 806 is a slight downgrade from the 805, it appears. Video processing on the 806 is supposedly better, but that's not always the reason to buy Onkyo. Plus, the 805 can be had for under $600 now, which is a steal.

I haven't heard anything bad about the 806 except that it does seem onkyo has switched from making it an audio processing receiver to putting more money in the video chips while dropping the nice Burr Brown DACs for audio. It's a bit strange too that it dropped almost 25lbs between the 805 and the 806!

It looks like the 876 is the new 805.  Same weight 50.9 pounds, same DACs, same current draw, new price!  Actually the 806 is 12 to 13 lbs less, it also draws a little over 2 amps less.  The current draw could mean a new and more efficient amp, or it could mean less headroom.  I would like to see more reviews of the xx6 models.  The only one I have seen was on the 606 and was in home theater mag  http://www.hometheatermag.com/receivers/808onk/  and the reviewer really was complemtary about it's music capability.  Now this is for a AVR that can be had for around $350.

Makes me wonder if the xx6 stuff has new preamp and or amp technology.  I am not in the AVR market right now, my little 75 watt Onkyo 503 drives my 5Bs very well and louder that I want.  Of course having the 8D to handle the lower 80 Hz helps in the power department.

    Cheers
