    Speaker Wire

I was talking with jason of sorts earlier today. In trying to decide what speaker cable to buy for my sytem. Now i allready have the monoprice 12g wire. I thought since i bought more speaker, and im out of wire i might consider an upgrade.

Does anybody know of any speaker wholesaler or retailers that sell a nice 12/10 Gauge wire. Astetics are important as my wire is on the outside of the walls.

There is sorts some stuff on ebay, i found this site, dont know if its any good?

    http://www.knukonceptz.com/productMaster.cfm?Category=Speaker%20Wire

How important is the wire count. Whats a good number for 12/10G wire.

Please let me know of any sites you guys have found or wire you would reccomend. A small side note though, im not spending thousands on cable, my room is far to small, and i have far to many speakers. Something in the monster cable price range would be good. THANKS!

    Re: Speaker Wire

Well everthing ive found on knukonceptz is overwhelmingly possitive. And even there 12 which is quite reasonable has a 3.37:1 Strand count. Monoprice which i would consider average cable or better, has a count of 87 strands per connecter. Even the cheap knukconceptz is 294 strands per connector. Which is impressive.  Granted its twice as much but still. $50 for 100ft If i take a step up, they sell tinned Oxygen Free Copper and PVC dielectric. Sounds good, dont know what it means though. But i was thinking while im at it i mine as well buy 10Gauge. Which is an crazy 462 strands per connector. I think that should be sufficient.

Anywho i just thought that was interesting, if anybody else was interested in cable. its a bargain.

But i am still in the market. Since its the weekend nothing will ship till monday anyway but i want to get an order in. Since i will be redoing my system i will need 150-200ft. 8-12Gauge

So where else can i  find cable such as this :)?

    THANKS!!

I think so, there's definitely still some space in there with the 12 gauge that we use.  Worst case scenario is that you would have to trim a few strands and end up with a 10.5 awg.  Geeked

    Re: Speaker Wire

All right, well i just bought 200ft of this

    http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KAR10SS

And i bought some heatshrink tubing, since nobody sells a decent wire pant. Knu said they where backordered over a month....

So i think i can fit all my old cable in a flat rate box, so if anybody wants to paypal the 12 bucks, theres 150ft of 12G OFC wiring, free for the taking..

    Re: Speaker Wire

    OW MY GOD IT'S HUGE!!

Yah thats what she said i know :). I received the cable yeserday, and while beautiful, it is raw cable not in a spindle or anything just 200ft of raw cable, and it weighted about 35pounds. There are 924 Strands of Tinned OFC. So for the record the bannaplugs will take 10gague wire. However the problem becomes being able to torque down the screws far enough to get the jacket on it. I stripped one screw so one of the terminals only has 1 screw :(. I was spending the better part of 10 minutes per end get get these things on. Plus the fact you sorta have to saw at the cable to get the 1 outer layer of the sleve off, just to get down to the 2 twisted 10Gague cables, wich also then have to striped. Anywho i wanted to let you know it is very much worth the cost this is a very nice cable and high quality. Wil see how it sounds. I will post photos of the cable for size coparison aswell as my finished cables.

If you do not get answers here, you may want to post on the AVSFORUM:

     http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=772081&page=62

Alot of the same people are here also, but there are few different people who post there.  Actually it was the AVSFORUM and the CNET reviews which helped me decide on APERION.

Also at Home Depot they sell this self adhesive cable molding which may help you hide your speaker cable or at least help with a little cable management along the floor boards etc.
