    HELP PLEASE!!

I'm getting ready to get an aperion system.Ok long story. I'm getting ready to graduate from nursing school in a few months and plan on doing an entire new home theater system. I want one in the living room and one up stairs. I plan on using my current system upstairs. The new system will be downstairs. I wanted opinions on speakers. Right now, well its more than I want to spend, but not entirely out of the question as this and handguns (1911's) are my hobbies.

    Current System
    TV -Samsung LNS4051DX -40" or maybe "42?
Blu Ray Player - Sony BDPS350
    Reciever - Onkyo TXSR503
    Floor Speaker -Infinity Primus 250
    Center -Infinity Primus C25
    Bookshelf (rears) - Primus 150
    Sub - Infinity PS8

     New System:

Onkyo Blu Ray Player DVB-D606 -$430
    Onkyo Reciever - TX-SR806B -$700 orTX-SR876 -$1199
    Samsung LN52A860 -$3000

Considering the Itimus 6B Fusion system or the Itimus 6T Hybrid system. I like the looks of the bookshelf system, but i'm worried I will loose sound quality if I don't go with the 6T system. I watch an avg of 5-7 movies per week.  Help me decide.

    Hey Zach,

Good to see you on here.  I was the guy on AVS that recommended you check out Aperion in the first place.

I haven't gotten mine yet, so I can't say for sure, but I asked the exact same question you did.  The audio gurus suggested that while the towers will help, they have the greatest benefit for those that listen to a lot of music on their system.

For guys like you and I, who spend the majority of the time on TV/Movies, the bookshelf/sub combo suits everything greatly.

I'll let the gurus chime in further, but depending on the size of your room, a 6B/6C/Sub setup should be great in all but the largest of rooms.

    Re: HELP PLEASE!!

Thank you. I guess I should mention that my room is 19x19, but its the bonus room over top of the garge. We remodled and I wanted it. However, if we move it definatly won't be bigger than this.

    Re: HELP PLEASE!!

If you don't listen to a lot of music, in a 19'X19' room I would recommend the 5Ts for your fronts and you could stick with the 6C as it is the best center channel we make and is timbre matched to the 5Ts.  You have a medium sized room and I think the 6Bs with their low sensitivity and smaller cabinet may not be quite enough, but the 6Ts would be overkill unless you plan on doing a fair amount of music because that's when you will notice a significant difference between the two in a space of that size.  Plus coming from the Primus 250s the 5T is a comparable speaker, but should still offer you a step up in terms of performance.

    Re: HELP PLEASE!!

Well thanks for the response and suggestion. There is the possibility that I may be moving houses soon, lets say I had a room 12x12 or so, would these speakers be overkill, i'm looking to the five series set, with the two floors, center, two bipolar and the sub most likely. I had considered floors or monitors, leaning towards the floors though. These would mostly be used for movies.

    Re: HELP PLEASE!!

I have a 15X20 room and am running bookshelves, and it's PLENTY of sound.  As you get bigger and better speakers, the level of quality and clarity will go up, so I don't think there's any such thing as "too much speaker"...subs may be different (I have a 12D in my room and it has a LOT of balls.)

All that said, you won't NEED something that robust for a room that size, but you won't be sorry you did it.

That's true. . .  up to a point.  In a 12X12 room you may be sitting so close to your front channels that the sound from larger six series speakers may not be fully dispersed before it reaches your ear which can lead to a somewhat box-y sound rather than the open sound you would get if you were a few more feet back.  In a 12X12 room, I would tend to recommend 5Ts and a 5C as the biggest speakers that you will really need.

    Re: HELP PLEASE!!

Odds are it will be the 5T-DB series, that way no matter which scenerio I go with, i'm still safe. I have a friend who has the Axiom Elite 60 speaker series. How is that in comparison with the Aperion 5T-DB. If it its nearly the same, then Aperion it will be.
