Onkyo 605 "Handshake" issues with HDMI picture

Wondering if anyone has experienced any issues with the Onkyo 605?

I ran my HDCable and my PS3 using the two HDMI inputs and then ran my HDMI output to my TV. Both with the cable and the PS3 I would experience a randomly dropped signal and the screen on my TV would go black. Sometimes it wouldn't happen but once. Sometimes it would happen every 5 minutes. When I plug the cable and the PS3 directly into the back of the TV however using the same HDMI cables I never experience the problem. I've resorted to plugging the inputs directly into the TV and then running optical inputs to the receiver. Just seems like I shouldn't have to do that with the receiver.

While I don't own the 605 (I have the 805), this certainly is not normal. You have troubleshot the issue down to it being the amp (I am assuming you checked the obvious, loose cable). I used to be in the car audio business, and when somebody had a problem with their car stereo, they always came in saying that it must be a loose wire. Drove me crazy.....it was never a loose wire!

If it is under warranty, I would have the unit looked at. If it is not under warranty, it may not be cost effective to have it fixed.

My HDMI has never blacked out on me (or any other source for that matter).

You should not have to wire around your receiver as you have. It more or less defeats the purpose.

    Good luck.
