    Old to new

Has anyone had the chance to own Aperion's last series in the tower speakers and then purchased the new version? If so what are the differences between the two that you noticed. I have owned the 633 tower and the center (old series) and really enjoyed them, that center was to die for. I cannot find anything from current owners here that have had the chance to iether do a side by side with the towers or had the chance to own both.

Any input on this would be appreciated. And yes I know I can order a no risk pair to try out and send back if I dont like them. Need some juicey input:)

    Hello James,

Sounds like you may be looking for an unbiased customer analysis, but since nobody has chimed in I'll be happy to provide my opinion anyway.  Geeked

It's been a while since I've heard both speakers in the same room, but when I did compare them I noticed a couple things.  First off the 6T definitely has more low bass extension than the 633-T.  Secondly the highs were a bit smoother, but also dialed back a bit in comparison with the 633-Ts.  I wouldn't say that the 633s were by any means a bright speaker, but they did have more high frequency energy than the 6Ts.

Your question makes me want to revisit the comparison, so hopefully I can find some time to drag a couple 633s into our sound room and give you my thoughts in the next week or so.

    Re: Old to new

Ooh.  I'm very interested in this also.  I had a pr. of 633-T's before, and the top end was too much.  And, not all that 'refined' with many difficult classical sequences.

I'm in the market again now, so if the 6T's have been toned down a bit up top, and cleaned up a little with the newer tweet, that would be excellent.

    Re: Old to new

Your awnser makes me want to get a pair of the 6t's....er  rather a complete 7.1 setup now that my media room is completed, its been a long journey but the darn thing is finally ready for speakers.  I liked the 633's very much, especially for movies, but thought the top end was a tad bit energetic. Not horribly so, but thought it could present certain problems in some rooms. Easing up on the top end throtel  with the newly designed Aperion is a welcome improvment IMO.

    Thank you for responding.

Hey Jason.  Curious..  Any chance to compare the two?  I'm buying a set of something this week.  Thanks.

    Re: Old to new

Ok I finally got a chance to do some A/Bing between the 6Ts and the 633-Ts yesterday.

First and foremost is the high freqs, definitely more aggressive in the 633.  I still don't think the 633 is a bright speaker but I can see that it could be a bit fatiguing at higher volumes.  In the 6Ts the highs are dialed back a bit, not a ton but as the overall volume increased it became more noticeable that the 6Ts were smoothed out a bit on the top end.

Second while the 6Ts have a smidge more bass extension (probably in the vicinity of 3-5 Hz) I could actually hear the hump that the 633s have around the 100-200 Hz area.  So while the 6Ts got a bit lower, there was actually more in the midbass department coming from the 633s.  But I kind of felt like that midbass hump made the 633s sound a bit tubby at times, especially when I threw on some electronic music to really check out the bass response.

One area that I will give the 633s the edge to is imaging, I was able to dial in the proper stereo effect much quicker with them than with the 6Ts which I had to play with quite a bit.  Who knows though, maybe I just got lucky with the 633 placement.

Mids and sound stage between the two speakers were pretty similar, at least to my ear, and overall they do have a similar sound.  So for someone who didn't like the 633s I'm not sure that 6Ts are going to be different enough.  But I would say the most significant area of improvement is the highs, so if that was your main issue then you might give the 6Ts a shot.

Hope that helps but please let me know if you have further questions, thanks!
