Here there everyone,

So here's the rundown. Looking to help out my little brother again for music. He currently has an ihome for listening to his ipod in his room. He is disappointed with it. He wants a new system to blast some tunes. He doesn't have a very big budget. Like 175-200 max. Looking for good bass response. Am open to all ideas. Even a boom box. Anyhow, wonder if anyone has good ideas for this..... I tried to suggest some 4b's and save for an 8d, but obviously over his price range. Thanks for the suggestions in advance. Ready, set, go...........

Maybe a bit out of his price range but I have a Bose SoundDock and it really sounds great. I cashed in some AmEx points to get mine.

If 4Bs and an 8D are outside of his budget, then maybe just a pair of 5Bs would suffice.

Alternatively he might think about 4Bs and an 8A.

I actually tried to talk my brother into the latter one you listed there, due to sub it has. It was at Walmart, but it wasn't plugged in and they didn't have an outlet near by to test it out. Nice to think were on the same line of thinking. I know it's not the best quality, but seems like you get a lot for 199.

Check out the powered AudioEngine 2 and AudioEngine 5 speakers.  I have both and they are fantastic.  The 5's even have good bass.  Great reviews. The 5's can also easily recharge an iPod.

 I use them with Apple's latest Airport Express and iTunes for a poor man's wireless whole home audio system.  (I use my even better big Aperions speakers in my living room.)
