    Upgradeitus - Chapter Center Channel

I would appreciate any of your thoughts on my question.

I have a 5C, with 4 5Bs mounted up on the walls, angled down.  I just got 2 5Ts to uses as fronts, and I'm using the 5Bs as the height channels running through an Onkyo 607, with a velodyne sub.  I am really blown away by the sound.

So my question is about one last possible upgrade, I'm thinking of trading up to the 6C.  My setup is in a large room, about 30x20 -- this is divided up into a kitchen and a family room.  The main listening spot is about 11-12' from the tv. Any thoughts, recommendations.

Finally, how does the upgrade process work??  Do I just order the 6c now and return 5c after I get the new speaker? Do you have a suggested shipper?

Thanks from a very satisfied customer,

    Bill

frzdr-  One good thing about Aperion speakers is they are all timbre matched so it will not be a problem to upgrade to a 6C.  If the upgrade is within the 30 day trial period you would just pay for the speaker diffrence.  If after the 30 days it is shipping plus diffrence. If you have original shipping box just contact Aperion and they will give you a shipping label.  If not you still have to contact Aperion and they will ship you a box.  When they receive your shipped speaker they will check everything and ship out the upgraded speaker.  They usually use FedEx so you should not have to contact a shipping company.  Hopefully everything I printed here is correct, if not someone else can chime in, Browninggold.

With that large of a room, I suppose the 6C would be a good fit, although I can't help but think you may need a more powerful receiver... I have the same receiver as you, but a 4T Hybrid SD hooked up in a traditional 5.1 setup in a 13.5 by 16 foot room instead.  How do you like the height channels?  My room is too shallow for a traditional 7.1 setup, and I've floated the idea of using the Dolby Pro Logic IIZ until my living room magically supersizes itself...

I would write or call Aperion letting them know you want to utilize their Trade Up program, and find out the shipping costs involved.  I am about a stones throw away from upgrading my center to a 5C, and I contacted Aperion first...

Thanks for the info browninggold.  I'll wait for an answer here or call them tomorrow, but I'd rather buy the new one and have them credit me when the return comes back.  I don't want to be without a center channel during the shipping times....

    regards.

Re: Upgradeitus - Chapter Center Channel

I really like the height channels. We just got this set-up yesterday, so this is all initial reactions, but it's great.  It's not a Phil Spector-like "wall of sound" or anything, but it is definitely a fuller, more complete soundstage.  Hard to describe but even without any special effects it's an improvement.

And with the Dolby effects, we definitely noticed another dimension of the whole surround sound experience.  I'm anxious to try out more stuff to really test it out.

Well duh, I checked out their Help section on this website and saw I won't have to be without the center channel.  Cool!  I'll call to tomorrow.

    Thanks again.

Bill, I took your upgrade order.  I am sure you'll be well pleased with the upgrade to the 6C.
