i currently have a pair of 4ts and the purity and clearity is lovely but i like playing music louder than the 4ts can handle will the 5ts be much of an upgrade ? FYI i have the onkyo tx sr605 to power them does anyone have this receiver and want to tell me how to change the impendence

Well the 5Ts are slightly more efficient than the 4Ts so you will get a little more overall output, but you may also just be running up against the limitations of your receiver if you like to listen at high volumes.

The main difference for me between the 4T and 5Ts is that the midrange is fuller in the 5Ts which definitely makes a considerable difference when listening to music. 

Finally to change the impedance setting on the 605, get into the speaker set up menu and select "speaker settings", it should give you the option of either 6 or 4 ohm.

on the similar note, if you don't care about volume, are 5Ts a worthy upgrade over 4Ts in a small room (about 7ft listening distance)? you mention you get a fuller midrange - i know that's hard to quantify but how would you rate 4Ts vs 5Ts in terms of sound quality? say 5Ts would get a perfect 100%, how would 4Ts stack up against them?  

also interesting is how the two towers are marketed. look at the titles of both on the website; it's "Intimus 4T Tower Speaker" versus "The Best Small Tower Speaker of your life - Intimus 5T"

For 80% movies at a distance of 7 feet I'd stick with the 4Ts if it were me.  In a small space like that the biggest benefit from the increased midrange of the 5Ts will be when you are listening to music and for only 20% of your usage I don't know that it will be worth it.
