Death of a Salesman (maybe) ..... or maybe just my new DPR2005 :(

Months and months ago in a neighborhood far far away there was a consumer who purchased an HK AVR630. Clearly, the force wasn't strong with this unit in that it wouldn't stay on. Of course our persistent Jedi sent it back and received another unit. It worked perfectly until he decided to sell it in favor of the new DPR2005. After waiting weeks and weeks for it to be delivered the force grew stronger within him. After having taken possession of the receiver today the anxious Jedi was ready to wield his newly crafted power (in this case the DPR2005). He used his knowledge and skill to carefully integrate his existing power (speakers, dvd player, Xbox, etc…) within this new force. After getting everything set up, the time had come. With one single move the Jedi set in motion the actions necessary to utilize this power ...... only ...... nothing happened!

Hey guys and gals. I'm so angry right now that I had to do something to amuse myself. I've been waiting weeks for the arrival of my HK DPR2005. I unpacked it a few minutes ago, got everything hooked up and attempted to turn it on. Apparently my unit is related to Bartleby the Scrivener because "it preferred not to". Alas after getting over it I decided to see the entrails of my newly claimed mediocrity. Actually I figured I'd open it up because I know some on the board would be amused by seeing inside a digital path receiver. Enjoy.

Man! Thanks for the great shots! Did you end up getting a replacement yet??

The D2AUDIO component looks very cool.

Looks like a faulty flux capacitor near the universal j-gate bearing...

I finally got the new DPR2005 and it was well worth the wait.  I couldn't imagine it being a huge step up from my AVR630, but it is!  Don't get me wrong, the AVR630 was an amazing unit.  I would think of the upgrade as the difference between an Aston Martin DB9 and a V12 vanguish (aside from the $86000 price difference).

    Lewis!

Can you go into more detail on the sonic differences between the digital amp (DP2005) vs. the avr603?
