Denon Link 3 approved for SACD

I seem to remember some other forum members who have the Denon AVR-3805 and DVD-3910 combination so I thought I would pass this along. Denon has announced approval from Sony/Phillips for digital transmission of SACD via the proprietary Denon Link 3rd edition. This is good news for owners of this equipment who wish to eliminate those 8 analog interconnects from their setup. Also, I'm assuming it will allow the use of the DSP modes and EQ parameters that are inactive when using the EXT IN analog connection. There are rumors circulating that firmware updates will be available within a week or two.

    Cheers,

Some good stuff coming out these days.

I have a Denon DVD-2900 and am amazed by the performance everytime I watch/listen to it.

Well, I just spoke with Denon tech support and requested the -8 firmware upgrade. I was hoping this was for SACD transmission over Denon Link, but apparently the approval they received was for SACD version 2.0, which wont be approved for another year or two. So it seems I will have to keep that spaghetti mess of analog interconnects after all. It's funny, another two years and SACD may be all but dead, what with all the competing formats and low sales. Personally I blame MP3 technology for seriously damaging the state of higher resolution music. If people only were just a little less concerned with convenience and a little more concerned with quality. I say death to MP3!!!

While I must admit I do use MP3's, I also whole-heartedly jump on your bandwagon.

MP3's are nothing more than cheap copies of the original, I wish more people would understand that.  But, our society is so 'go, go, go' no-one really cares, even music majors, I read an article in USA Today about how a music school has a 'legal' ITunes share.  Personally, I think that is somewhat of a oxymoron, to me, high-quality audio and MP3 do not compute.  But, they do serve a purpose...

...as Sony scratches their heads, wondering why SACD is off to such a slow start...
