HD TV and Movies via Xbox360

I was just wondering if anyone has tried streaming movies ( regular or HD) stored on your computer to a xbox360.  I would think that the files need to be converted first?  I saw recently that slysoft has release HD-DVD cracking software, allowing you to rip a HD-DVD movie to your hard drive, but my question is, can that can be streamed to the xbox360?  I already use my 360 to access all of my music and pictures, but I would love to have all of my movies available as well.

     Thanks in advance,

i can't reply on any HD cracks but I got the XBOX HD DVD player and it's incredible!

People frown upon the 720p limit due to the component input but with the monster cable or psyclone component wires it's on par with any HD performance I've seen in 720p..

(easily equals HDNET or Discovery HD fed by HDMI)

    SiKniSS,

I agree with you completely! I also picked up the HD DVD add on with a coupon I had at a local store.  I haven't even upgraded my cables at all, but the picture quality is as good as I have seen on my 720p DLP..even compared to 1080p set ups I have seen at the local Sony Style store.   For the price, the HD DVD add on is well worth it, even if the format loses in the long run to Blu-ray, we still are enjoying a ton of movies.  I usually get one HD movie or so a week from Netflix..awesome.

From What I know, Xbox 360 is capable of 1080p and the HD DVD add on should be able to playback 1080p. Component cables are capable of 1080p. Ask any Xbox 360 owner with a 1080p TV.

I have both PS3 and Xbox 360. Xbox 360 is a great gaming console. But when it comes to media playback, PS3 seems to to do better. Both are connected to my Onkyo receiver. Audio coming from PS3 when playing back audio/video media sounds richer than Xbox 360 to me.

When you watch HD DVD movie or Blu-Ray movie, you have the option of selecting Dolby TrueHD. PS3 can decode and send this through HDMI. Xbox 360 does not. All it does it decode it and convert it to Dolby Digital Ex or other lower formats.

PS3 definitely cannot beat the user interface of Xbox 360. It looks so good on displays of any size. PS3 dashboard is almost unreadable at display sizes lower than 50".

Xbox 360 supports WMV-HD and PS3 supports AVC-HD. If you consider buying an HD camcorder these days, many of them record in AVC-HD format. You can download it to a USB hard drive and connect it to PS3 and watch it without any conversion.

I have a Sony KDL-40V3000 and through the component connection I do get 1080p from my XBox 360 how ever when I play an HD-DVD using the ad on drive it only out puts in 1080i.
