    534-SS Dipole/Bipole Speaker Stand

Has anyone found stands that will support the 534-SS speaker? I am tring to avoid wall mounting any speakers and will probably opt for the 532-LR if I can't find a nice set of stands for the 534-SS. By the way, I am purchasing the i29 (all black) stands for the 532-LR that I just purchased for my Fronts and would want these to match.

     Regards,
    Sean

    Re: 534-SS Dipole/Bipole Speaker Stand

    Hi Sean,

I purchased a pair of stands from Stand and Mounts.

The stands I have are Cherry hardwood that match my speakers, tv stand and audio center for $104 and free shipping.

They have quite a selection of wood, metal and glass. Check out the link below.

I have a pair of 532'S coming on 03-06 and will post new pics in the gallery including the 534 stands.

    Jack,

Thanks for the info - I actually checked out your setup after posting this question and I noticed you had the 534-SS mounted on a stand. Were your stands made specifically for a Bipole/Dipole style speaker? Is there anything I need to look for to support this type of speaker or will most stands work?

    Regards,
    Sean

    Re: 534-SS Dipole/Bipole Speaker Stand

    Sean,

My current speaker setup is not in the gallery.

I have the 534'SS now off the wall and are free standing which I like better. This gives more flexibility in placement of the speakers.

The stands I have are Wood Technology FGC-26 which support the speakers well and fit with the rest of my system.

The stands have a 5.5 inch square speaker base an are adequate to support the 534-SS and a base with floor spikes that make the stand stable.

Stands and Mounts has a wide selection of stands that may fit you're application, but go with at least the 5.5 speaker base.

I will post new pics of my setup once I have my  532'S installed.

    Re: 534-SS Dipole/Bipole Speaker Stand

    Jack,

I must have been confusing your pictures with someone else's.

Did you need any special brackets or are the 534's just sitting on the stand?

I have taken a look at www.racksandstands.com (thanks for the link) and have found a few options that wil probably work. I am hoping to mount these a bit high (bottom of speaker at 36" - 40") with a slight tilt down so I will a study stand that has something to hold the speaker in place.

    Regards,
    Sean

    Re: 534-SS Dipole/Bipole Speaker Stand

    Hi Sean,

I'm using 41" stands for my 534-SS. I also bought them from Stands and Mounts, here is a link to the stands:

    http://www.standsandmounts.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=4824

At that height, you do not need to angle them down, I don't think it is necessary unless you have them up really high (like 8 feet). If you do choose to angle them down, this type of stand may not be the way to go. The speaker just sits on the perch, it is not attached in any way. The good thing is that the dipole speakers are heavy enough for everything to stay stable.... but if you have a rowdy dog or kid you may want to devise a way to attach the speaker to the stand....

    Re: 534-SS Dipole/Bipole Speaker Stand

    James,

Thanks for the input - it will look better if they can sit flat, I was just concerned this would reduce the impact of the rear channel.

I don't have kids or any pets (yet) but I would still feel more comfortable if the speaker is mounted to the stand. I'm sure I can find a bracket kit on either standsandmounts.com or racksandstands.com.

    Regards,
    Sean

    Re: 534-SS Dipole/Bipole Speaker Stand

    Sean,

My 534S are just sitting on the 26" stands. I have no pets or children running around the house, so that may be a consideration.

With the floor spikes in the carpet, they ar stable.
