Hi Gary,
Owen noticed the humming sound actually before I did, but I was confirming the 22 watt draw and the temp rise of 10 degrees above room temp when in OFF.
Ben E-mailed me on 05-17-07 that his engineer in China was working on the issue then.
Well let’s see, it took me 2hrs to conduct my first current test, which showed a 22-watt draw, but I had to make a power patch cable. I have worked in the field of Electronics in a variety of capacities and know that even an entry level Electronic Tech should be able to conduct the same test.
I started this post one month ago and that was after Caleb’s post # 4350 showing interest in my findings when I responded to Williams “Sub Amp Question” in the speaker forum.
I would bet that you would see the amps heat sink about 10 degrees F above room temp in the OFF position. The “fresh supply of amps” has been delayed until 06-08-07 but I doubt there will be a fix applied.
I also unplug the S-10 when not in use. The bright side is that when I turn a lamp off, the lamp is no longer bright and becomes cool to the touch.
