    Pioneer + Aperion = :) ?

After much reseach, here's what I've pulled the trigger on:

    Display: Panasonic Th-58PZ700U (58" 1080p plasma)
5.1 Surround Sound as follows: 533-T fronts, 533-VAC, 532-LR's rear, SVS PB-10NSD sub
Pioneer TSX-92THX AVR (key features = 3 HDMI inputs, upscaling to 1080p, warm, inviting sound quality)

So how do you think the speakers and receiver will mate up?  Is it possible to be too warm?

Other options would be Onkyo 805 and Denon 3808ci.

Let me know what you think.

    Thanks,

    Greg

PS - Here's a link to a diagram of the floorplan.

    Looks like picture won't link.

    Room is 15 x 20 w/ 9' celings but a 10.5' high tray in middle.

    Thanks,

    Greg

I don't see the link either.

How can you have a 10.5 ft  high tray in the middle with only 9 ft ceilings?

What do you mean by too warm?

That AVR should be able to configure just about any sound perception you may desire.

    too warm?

that depends on what you like.

being that the Aperions are slightly warm at most, and the Pioneer Elite receivers are also slightly warm I doubt you'd end up with an overly warm (midbassy) sound.

personally, I tend to prefer a little warmth which is why I intend to pick up one of these receivers soon. of all the receivers I have auditioned, the Elites were the most impressive. I compared them to Rotel, Denon, and Yamaha.

I have no idea about Onkyo, but I can say that I have always been unimpressed with Denon's sound. even still, Denon makes some nice gear.

    Hi Greg,

The gear setup will work well together with your room. You don't have to worry about it sounding too "warm". If anything, that is what you want (if we are defining the terminology the same). I've heard setups with warmer sound than Aperion and Pioneer can offer and they sound great, but they also cost a lot more.

Thanks for the comments.  The celing is known as a tray ceiling.  The room is 9' but there is an area right in the middle where its raised to 10' or so.

I've had the Pioneer/Aperion setup now for about 5 days and am so far extremely happy.  I doubt I am getting everything out of the system yet but all and all, for what I spent I feel like I have gotten a tremendous amount of performance.  I'm really not sure if it sounds warm or not, but I do know it sounds GOOD.

Thanks again and thanks to Aperion, the speakers are fantastic.

how does it sound with the SVS?  I am considering a very similar system in the near future except I plan on the pb12+.  Why did you not go with an Aperion sub?  Post dome pics!

    Re: Pioneer + Aperion = :) ?

I need to take/post some pics for sure.  I'm extremely happy how everything came out and really lucked out on matching the finish of my stand and the Aperion speakers.

I chose the SVS PB10 because it was about $75 cheaper and by all accounts is a fantastic sub.  From the research I did, the subs seem to be a real specialty product and since I was having to buy without hearing, I decided to go with one from a specialty sub maker where I could read extensive reviews/forum threads instead of buying the Aperion one.  I might have changed my mind if Aperion gave you a package discount but since the pricing is the same whether you buy everything or one by one, I went with the SVS instead.  I am fairly happy with it, but haven't gotten it dialed in particularly well yet.

If you are going all the way up to a PB12, I would highly recommend looking into a brand new company called Epik Subwoofers.  You can read about them on the AVS forums or check out their website at www.epiksubwoofers.com.  From what I can tell their cost/performance ratio is out of sight.  In fact, even though I'm generally pleased with my SVS, I'm strongly considering returning it and getting the Epik Valor instead just based upon the buzz these new subs are creating.  SVS has a 45 day return policy so I've got another 3 weeks or so to decide.

     Hope this helps.
