Hello All,

Anyone else notice that the standard-def version of Transformers has very little LFE (low frequency effects)? There are a couple of places where choppers had some good "chop", but the explosions and other battle sequences were a little disappointing in this regard.  However, the other sounds were very well defined, especially the mechanical transforming sounds.

If I recall correctly, it is a DD 5.1 soundtrack. There is a DD+ soundtrack on the HD-DVD, has anyone heard that one to see if they have a similar response about the LFE?

Interesting, the hd-dvd could have an improved soundtrack.

My sub is working fine, I made sure it was on when it became apparent the bass was thin. I watch other movies on a regular basis and they rattle the room without problems.

Thanks for posting your impression of the hd-dvd version.  I talked to my father earlier today, he had the same complaint with the standard dvd. He has a Klipsh reference 15 that went more or less unused during the movie.
