power cord running with sub cable.

I recently moved my sub to the front of my room, and ran the cable for the sub, and an extension cord through a pipe (designed to look kinda like a chair rail-adds a nice retro look) to my sub in the front of the room.  I really do not want to have to run either cord through the wall as that would take a lot of work how my basement is set up.

I have read already that it could receive interference from the power cord being they are that close together and running side by side, but i have not noticed any problems.  Should I be concerned about damage to the sub?  Do I need to buckle down and put in the effort to run either wiring, or my sub cable through the wall?

         Any advice appreciated,

         Thanks,

    Joseph,

If you are using a 3-wire extension cord, the wires should be twisted which will reduce the chance of noise induction into the Sub-cable providing you are using a good quality shielded Sub-cable.

The relative low current used by the Sub, probably 3 amps or less should also minimize the effect of electrical magnetic field induction as opposed to some household wiring that may draw 15 amps.

My LFE cable runs parallel for 7 ft with the outlet strip that powers my A/V rack which can draw as much as 11 amps. The higher the current the stronger is the magnetic field.

    I have no problems.

If you are using metallic conduit, not plastic then you could just isolate the cord/cable with a separate run if you experience problems.

Re: power cord running with sub cable.

I went ahead and added a seperate run for the power, just for peace of mind.

I'll be adding a picture in the gallery forum once my 634 arrives and I get it setup.

Then just one more month till I can replace two of my kenwood surrounds with 632's.  After that I will have 5.1 with all Aperion speakers (with two rear surrounds that aren't, but that will have to wait till next year.)
