Re: They are here! Introducing Bravus Subwoofers

pameredith - Sure you can still buy the speakers. Ask for me...We're friends now right? Wink

JoeZ - If you want to call Aperion and ask for me I can look up your account and see where you are at on your 30 days if you are interested in swapping the speakers. Can't really look up your account with the info from this message board...

dmgoodman -  I am the nicest to Jack. I appreciate his contributions to the board...I'm sure he posts more then anybody else on the board. I guess saying "lack of respect" for anything customer related with Aperion just didn't sit well with me. We love's our customers, and all the feedback we get from them.

Onward and upward guys. Stay posted with us...Tons of info to come in the upcoming days.

Re: They are here! Introducing Bravus Subwoofers

One more thing to clarify with me then.  If this is a new intimus line why can't we take advantage of the full price trade up program to go from a 533T to a 5T or a 532 bookshelf to the new one?

"One of our intentions at Aperion Audio is to provide you with the very best purchase experience you have ever had… with no exceptions!

Another intention is that through our passion for sonic excellence, we continue to create amazing speakers.

Occasionally these two intentions conflict with each other. For example, you may have happily purchased one of our speakers, only to realize that you need a larger speaker, or to discover that we’ve introduced a new speaker to our product family that was just what you really wanted, had it been in existence at the time of your original purchase.

In support of our first intention, to give you an out-of-body buying experience, and to eliminate the angst that the introduction of our latest and greatest speaker might create, Aperion has developed our ONE YEAR FULL VALUE TRADE-UP PROGRAM.

Our program is simple: if you simply decide that you’d like a larger, more expensive speaker -- or we create something new and amazing that you just have to have -- you can trade in your original speaker toward the new speaker at its full value! "

The limitation that is still in the gray area for me:

Subsequent revisions of the speaker you originally purchased are not eligible for trade-up.

So my question is, with the price increase and updated technology is this considered a subsequent revision or a new, more expensive speaker that had it been in existence when I ordered, would have been what I really wanted?  And if it is the latter why would we not be able to take advantage of this trade up program?

    Thanks,

    Dan.

Re: They are here! Introducing Bravus Subwoofers

    Hey Dan,

The new Intimus line is a revision of our existing products.  Therefore, while you are more than welcome to trade in your 532s for the new 5T or one of the new 6 series speakers within the year trade up window, you would not be able to trade them in for the new 5B.  The new Intimus line fits the definiton of a revision of an existing line in every way, they are not additions to our speaker line but are updated replacements of the current models.

Since you are still in your 30 day trial its a moot point for you personally, you may exchange your speakers for full credit or refund at any time during the trial period.

If you want to talk anything over, feel free to give us a call or log into webchat, thanks!

I don't think ridiculing customers and making light of the situation is the best course of action for Aperion staff members.

Right or wrong, you have some customers who are ticked off.

You guys helped to convince me to request a return authorization for a pair of speakers today.

Re: They are here! Introducing Bravus Subwoofers

Just a suggestion, and I mean no disrespect.

If you have an issue, how bout picking up the phone and discussing the issue with them? One thing that often happens when we choose written words (e-mail/forum posts) is that it is hard to express "voice tone" in the written words. They seldom really get across how we really feel, or often misrepresent our intentions. I don't believe for a second that Aperion's intention was to make light of the situation, or to tick anybody off. However, I can see how one might feel that way, in light of the delivery. A forum is not a good place to air issues like this (again, IMHO).

I had the pleasurable experience of spending 20 minutes on the phone with Davey Gravey, and prior to that, about one hour cumulative with Oliver. They (IMHO) bent over backwards to answer every question and concern, without being dismissive.

I can definately see both sides to this. I am lucky that my order has not shipped as of yet, and will be able to take advantage of the new speakers, if I choose. I am still undecided on that to be honest.

In reality, just becuase something "better" comes out, it does not make the original any worse that it was in the first place. Regardless of what I decide, I am certain I am going to enjoy the product. Just look at the twelve pages on AVS forums on the Official Aperion Thread. This company still has wonderful products, and the one of the, if not the, best return policies and warranties around.

It is most unfortunate that this has spiralled out of control. Anyway, that is my two cents. Enjoy the thunder...after all...that is why we are all here!

    Peace!

    Hey everyone,

We've just finished up the Bravus microsite - hopefully it will help everyone understand the product a little better with multiple views of Bravus with all of its key features called out.

Re: They are here! Introducing Bravus Subwoofers

Woo HAAAAAAAAaaaa!!! I loves me some rigorous forum activity ;-)

Had to jump in and thought I would help provide some more answers in regards to Bravus. Also, I just wanted to remind folks that this is supposed to be a fun place to hang out as well as gather information. Let's try to keep it fun AND informative,  right?

Before I answer some of the questions that were recently posed, I want to make sure that all of you guys understand that we hear and understand your frustration. As Jason pointed out, there is a lot of information that has not yet been disseminated. Everything that Alex is working on right now relates to Bravus pages and information on the refreshed Intimus line. Also, we've been preparing to release a statement that should answer a lot of the questions that you have posed here. It's important to us to provide to the readers of this and many other forums all of the information in one, convenient post so as to curb speculation and assumptions. We should have that out very shortly! Thanks for your patience.

    Jack Gates:

    Hey Alex,

Alex is going full bore on getting product data posted on the website. Having just returned from a business trip, I'm finally available to help field questions on Bravus and the refreshed Intimus line!

You seem to know more than the Aperion specs are willing to show us novices in Aperion design and stucture regarding new products.

It hasn't to do with willingness, rather a state of preparedness. The "soft launch" that David refers to involves letting people know about (and in this case  to pre-order if they choose) the Bravus family of subwoofers. We're happy to discuss any and all specs that we have at the ready, but getting everything posted on the site will take a little more time. We have an excellent Bravus "micro-site" that should be launched very shortly. The content therein will give you a much better view of the sub and may answer some of the questions that are popping up.

If the Emblem and display goes to the front in this small cube presentation with the woofers firing to either side what will this thing sound like if I need to place it in a confined space like between my Video stand and Audio stand?

It will sound fantastic. Even with only 2" of clearance on either side. At frequencies of 100hz and lower, the wavelength of the tones produced by the sub will be at least 10 feet. In order for you to do detriment to the sound of the sub, you would have to impede the airflow to such a degree that the sub was unable to move the air freely. In such a case, you would be looking at an undesireable subwoofer location in general. I think it is safe to say that there are far more restrictions in ported sub placement than there are on a sealed design, regardless of it's driver orientation. Nevermind that people rarely get to place their sub in the optimum location. I think this answers most of your subsequent questions regarding the placement options of the sub.

Ah, yes. One more thing to mention. The width of each Bravus sub is less than half an inch wider than it's Intimus counterpart. So in the overwhelming majority of cases, the Bravus will fit wherever the Intimus would have.

My S-10 sits between a bookcase and video stand with at the most 2 inches of clearance on either side. It sounds incredible.

So Alex, are these new sub’s in phase but separated by 180 degrees open to free air?

Yes. The opposing drivers are wired in phase.

I thought the idea of a small cube Sub was to be able to incorporate them into a rather small space with optimum results. If these new sub’s are designed to side fire in a sealed enclosure, what do you really have for installation options?

What? Install them in a corner where they can radiate equally off the walls when you don’t have the room in the first place which is why you would by a small cube sub?

Since the forum pictures don’t show what you apparently know, why don’t you just jump out here and explain the exact design and implementation constraints of these new subs.

If I need a small cube sub installed in a rather confined space, what is the benefit of this new sub design not to mention the significant price increase.

Again, what if you do not have the room sufficient enough to give these side-firing subs room to radiate Bass?

Also, in addition to the Bravus Microsite, we've put up a page explaining some of the decisions we made when developing Bravus.  It's an interesting read, and can be found here.

Re: They are here! Introducing Bravus Subwoofers

    Hey Scottiemon,

Thanks so much for your post. I think you hit the nail on the head here. It is true that "tone" is not always easily communicated by way of a forum post.  One of the things that I like about this forum is that people are generally very friendly and supportive of each other. There's a lot of junk on other forums that you won't see here. Nobody is trying to cut anyone's throat or convince one another that their kung fu is better than the next guys.

Aside from profanity, we welcome almost all discussions.  Sure, we'll delete spam on the rare occassion that it comes in and if there is any flagrant abusive behaviour generated, then we will step in and try to diffuse it. Generally, though, we leave the forum open for discussions amongst its users. If there is a broadly based question that can be answered here to the benefit of our readers, then we're here!

Indeed this string has begun a serious downward spiral. I know with unwavering certainty that none of the guru's posts intended to make light of a serious situation or to in any way ridicule anyone. I understand that there are some folks who are pissed. I also know that most if not all those people haven not called us to have a conversation with us. (check that, two people just did)

For instance, no one ever said that if you bought your speakers more than 30 days ago that you were totally inelligble for any kind of trade arrangement/swap. That's just pure misinformation. Call us, present your situation and lets work it out together. Yes, there is a line to be drawn and I will be the one drawing that line. It's the responsible thing to do. There is, however, such a thing as a gray area and we will, as we have always done, take things on a case by case basis and do everything we can within reason to help.

I really hope that the information we release shortly will help answer some of your questions. I also hope that you will have a deeper understanding of what we're doing out here at Aperion. Still, I am sure questions will remain and I'm going to be here to answer them. So please pardon my rather sudden omnipresence here at the forum. I want to make sure that the truth is propogated.

    Thanks again, everyone.

I just want to point out that David was ridiculing me with his Jim Morrison picture, which is perfectly fine by me, I've certainly done much to deserve it.  Wink

Also, a big AMEN to Scottiemon, I have talked on the phone and chatted with both Joe Z and pameredith today and both conversations were positive and did a much better job of addressing their concerns than a forum thread ever could.  While the forum is a cool place to hang out and talk the best way to get information will always be to call us or log into webchat.

     Peace.

Yeah, echoing what these guys are saying.  We were playing with each other - and in hindsight was probably not the most appropriate time or venue for a little bit of internet hijinks - but what can you do, that is indeed the nature of the internet.  Sincere apologies to anyone who felt slighted or marginalized by our tomfoolery.
