    Depeche Mode in SACD

All I know is, the newly remastered Depeche Mode albums Violator, Music for the Masses and Speak & Spell sound PHENOMENAL in SACD, ESP. Violator and Speak & Spell.  It's like listening to a whole new album again.  I can't wait for the remaining albums to be released.  Incidentally, you can only get the SACD by ordering the UK or European Deluxe version.  I've read the US version will only come with a standard CD + DVD.

So have you listened to their latest album in SACD 'Playing the Angel'? It's probably their best album of all time....

I don't know if I'd call Playing the Angel their best album of all time, but it's a great return to form and excellent all around.  And if you're going to buy it, by all means get the surround-sound version, which is AMAZING.

By the way, since we aren't getting either this cd or any of the remasters with the SACD layer in the US, the best option on these for listening is the DTS layer.  However, I must say, the DTS sounds is breathtaking.  In fact, I prefer it over SACD because the bass response is simply stunning.  And what's a good Depeche Mode album without serious bass?  I know several receivers include bass management for SACD/DVD-Audio support - including my HK235, but to me it doesn't quite compare.

Anyone else have a similar experience?
