    Jack,

How about you spell and grammar check my post!  You, a bit abrupt.  What do you think.

    Re: 5B review.

    Hey 1.mile.

    Are you Dan’s bodyguard?

I was hoping for a response from Dan who I actually do respect but not his bodyguard.

What challenge have I been unhappy with engaging 1.mile?

BTW 1.mile I don’t need a bodyguard, but if I did I would certainly ask Fred.

I did not know that you are in charge of customer service at Aperion until now.

I don’t make comments to make myself feel good 1.mile. You and others might not like what Fred and I have to say, but like you say this is an open forum, right?

I try to present facts and numbers to back up what I say. I have done that on many occasions.

Do you not think that readers of the forum are not entitled to listen to opinions even if they are from "gruff" old men; your quote sir.

If both you and Dan ask me to leave the forum, I will. That is all it will take.

I wait for your response and Dan’s 1.mile.

    Jack

    Re: 5B review.

    1.mile,

Yeah, I may be wound tight, but I think that is better than being wound loose and sloppy.

The reason that I ask is that if others do not like what I contribute to this forum I will not continue to post.

I realize that some may not understand my posts but I hope that some do.

When one speaks of technical specs it is hard for me not give a technical response.

I wish you to understand when I post that I am only trying to help others.

    Re: 5B review.

    1.mile.to.aperion,

No, I’m not Jack’s bodyguard, and it doesn’t appear to me that he needs one.

I don’t mind a challenge, and have even responded to them.  Hopefully, I’ve done so in a logical and professional manner.  And no, you don’t need my permission to write anything you wish: as you mention, this is an open forum…and I’ve openly applauded Aperion for providing this useful mechanism for the sharing of information and opinion.

I have attempted to provide to others a little of what I’ve learned and discovered during the years I’ve delved into most-things-audio (I’ve still much to learn about video – another reason I follow this forum).  And while I’ve never considered myself to be “super-intellegence”, I do consider myself informed in certain areas, and it’s in these areas where I’ve attempted to share.

These forums are not for "gruff" old men to make smart comments so that they can feel better about themselves.

Gruff?  Well, my wife has told me I’m becoming more cranky as I age, so maybe you have a point!

Old?  Depends on your perspective, but I’m getting there.

Smart comments? Maybe, but I didn’t agree with rockarruda’s assessment:

Dan's story is just a masterpiece of literature.. Will you go to the library and ask them to shorten War and Peace??

I attempt to keep it fun and have enjoyed the back-and-forth with others on this forum, even when I’ve been selected to catch the javelin.  I do, however, believe that overly-enthusiastic posts do little to enhance the credibility of an endorsement.

    Re: 5B review.

This thread reminds me of my of the time I spent working for a major corporation.

Always interesting when Engineering and Marketing got together.  Totally different perspectives.

I will admit to having worn a Marketing hat at that time.

Changing gears, anybody watch Cloverfield?  I watched it last night and liked it - wasn't sure I would.

Interesting twist on the Godzilla theme.

    Good LFE as well.

    Re: 5B review.

    Hey Dan,

You are asking Aperion to accommodate your wants and alter the forum content at added cost to fit your needs for what purpose, possibly self-gratification and or fame?"

If this post offends you, please ask Aperion to suspend my posting privileges and erase all of my posts."

    Hi Jack,

No worries, I'm not offended but I think you may be digging too much into this.  I wrote a review, noticed it was cut off and asked if it could be corrected, that's all.  I'm not looking for glory or fame, just wanted to share my bubbly feelings with whomever cared to listen. It is, after all, your choice whether you want to read my review or not.

The main intent of my review was to let everyone know that 1. It's a well built product for the price.  2.  My experience with the company was top notch.  3.  People may or may not like the way the speakers sound.  4.You get a lot more for the price than you would from a big box electronic store.  5.  If you are thinking about trying Aperion then there is no risk involved.  6. Buying speakers from Aperion is an enjoyable experience.  My apologies if this was not communicated effectively.

"Why don’t you just revise your review to be 500 words or less."

I could do that if Aperion asked.  However, the initial response was that they were happy with the review and that they were looking into getting the character limit extended.  If I find out that it is not feasible nor desired I would be happy to.  I just need to know if this is what needs to be done?

"You have 5 Aperion speakers and I have 10. I don’t ask Aperion to change their format to fit my desires."

I don't think it matters how many speakers you have or how much money you've spent.  I hope you didn't get the impression that I'm trying to impress people with the amount of speakers I own.  Nor was I trying to bribe Aperion into extending my character limit based on my contributions to their organization.  What it came down to was that I was truly satisfied with my purchase and felt the urge to share it others.  It is Aperion's decision on whether the extra content is beneficial and worth sharing.

"If you so love Aperion, why don’t you just abide by the rules and not ask for special consideration?"

Good point, one that I did not consider when asking to get the full contents of my review up there.  However, I did not realize, nor was it my intent to make other forum members disgruntled.  I apologize if you feel that way, but in all honesty I do not feel that I am greater than anyone here.  Honestly, this is a fun place to be and I feel it exciting to share my experiences with others.  How I do so is what makes me different than everyone and adds a unique perspective to the community.   Please help in making this a fun and educational place by being less critical of others thoughts, feelings and writing styles.  Everyone has and is entitled to their opinions here.  I believe there is a private message function on this forum and I would ask that you please use this function to communicate, with me, correspondence such as this.  I really feel these discussions are disruptive to other members and may take away from the effectiveness of helping others on the forum.

"BTW Dan, please use spell check and grammar check before posting."

My apologies if my spelling and grammatical errors are not professional. However from looking over other reviews and posts on this and many forums I have come to the conclusion that spelling and grammatical errors are acceptable in the context of this environment.  Nevertheless, it is your opinion and I respect it.  My approach and philosophy to free-form writing in forums and user reviews differs from yours and that is OK with me. I will just say that it gives my mind a break from writing 50+ emails a day in a professionally structured format.  Therefore I do not intend to change my methods of communication on this forum unless it becomes a requirement.

That being said, thanks for you opinion on this matter and I look forward to discussing Aperion Products and resolving issues with you in the future. And no I do not wish that you be banned from the site as you also offer a unique perspective in this community.Nice Talk and enjoy the weekend.

To conclude I want to apologize to all who have been negatively impacted by my review and my requests to have it's full contents posted.  I also want to apologize to Aperion for any resources that have already been consumed trying to address this request.  Had I originally known the character limit for reviews I certainly would have been more mindful in writing it.

    Dan.

    Re: 5B review.

    Hey guys,

So first off I would like to say that Dan making a request that we extend the character limit of his review is wholly reasonable and I appreciate that he was polite and has been patient in waiting for us to find a way to publish the review in its entirety.  The fact is, we bend the rules and make exceptions for people EVERY DAY here at Aperion, because really there are no "special cases", we will always go out of our way to accommodate any and all requests that are within reason, because that's what we do.

Secondly, my question to you Jack would be what does your first post on this thread really contribute to the forum or the discussion of Aperion speakers?  It seems to me that the only intention is to provoke a negative reaction from either Dan or us and isn't really in the spirit of constructive conversation.  Obviously we are trying to accommodate Dan and I don't see why you should have any problem with that.

In regards to the "bubbly" comments, again I don't see that a critique of someone else's review really adds anything to our forum.  It's ok if people disagree as they naturally will, but suggesting that someone's opinion is somehow invalid because it's too enthusiastic is not only negative but disrespectful.  Is it really so hard for you guys to believe that someone is that in love with our product?  Personally, opinions like Dan's are very encouraging to me, because believe it or not, sometimes I deal with people who aren't so happy with Aperion for one reason or another and it's good to know that there are people out there who have had the wonderful experience that we strive to deliver.

Finally, calling Dan out for poor grammar and spelling is totally out of line on a message board, and no one should have to apologize for typos in their posts.  It's just a nature of the medium, posts are written quickly and this is a place that people come to just shoot the breeze in their spare time.  There is absolutely no reason for people to feel like they must proofread their posts or the grammar police will be hunting them down, that is not the kind of environment that we are trying to create here.  If I wanted to be pedantic I could point out some typos in just about everyone's posts, including yours Jack, but again that sort of nitpicking is not what this is community is about and makes no contribution to the discussion.  Also, I appreciate you offering an apology Dan, but it's not necessary as you haven't done anything that would warrant one, at least in my opinion.

I know I sound like a broken record here, but let's try and keep this forum a fun place where people can positively contribute or just hang out and talk about whatever.  Imposing limits on how enthusiastic people can be about Aperion product neither serves Aperion as a business nor this community, it just spreads more negativity.

    Thanks.

    dmgoodman,

A very interesting post…it’s apparent to me you’ve “been there, done that”.

And Yes…there’s a difference in perspective between engineers and marketers: one side is focused on accuracy and relevance, while the other concentrates on sales and profitability.  Which side is “right”?  Probably both, since “both” will ultimately be held accountable by the powers-that-be for the success of the organization and its latest effort (at least for this quarter).

Thanks, Mike, for an astute observation!

    Fred

    PS – nice segue…ever considered politics?  ;-)

    Re: 5B review.

You caught me, Fred.  I was trying to change the subject. Didn't work too well.

The largest company I worked for was Japanese so we were under the big gun only twice a year.  The first 6 month period was called Kami and the second 6 month period was called Shimo. However, we did have to present to the local subsidiary's Board of Directors every month.  We spent the first ten days of the month preparing our presentations -  which didn't leave much time to do our real jobs.

In a Japanese company they consider making a forecast and budget a personal pledge of honor so that made for some interesting situations. The joke was they sent a sword to our American CEO once a year and he installed it on his wall as art - that wasn't its intended use!

We eventually built some pretty good relationships between Marketing and Engineering. We figured out we were in the same boat as you noted. There was always one jerk on each side that made life difficult. It did become apparent that self-preservation was the primary objective for some - on both sides.

    Re: 5B review.

    Hey MR. Jason Hicks,

My intent was not intended to scorn Dan but to help him when posting. I may be a bit blunt with my posts, but is this not our forum and not yours as a moderator?

Let us work things out between ourselves without the marketing attitude exhibited by you. I think we all, here in this forum have the intellect to perceive truth and honesty.

I was not trying to be mean as you may have suggested which does somewhat offend me, but I have a rather thick skin so I don’t care about your posts.

I appreciate Dan’s exuberance when speaking about Aperion speakers.

I love mine and Dan loves his.

Just let us work things out on this forum without your intervention and coloration.

    Thanks,

    Jackson
