Hello,
I am a proud owner of 532's, 533-Vac, 422's and a S8 sub. I currently have the STR-DG910 receiver and I have been very happy with it thus far. Only problem is that the configuration capabilities are much to be desired. I can only set the crossover for all the speakers at once and not individually. That may not be a big deal but the other settings have limitations also.
I have been toying with upgrading the receiver to better suit the speakers. But the Sony does have 110W per channel although at a higher tolerance for distortion than the others. I recently decided to exchange to the 5B's and 5C so I have been questioning my receiver's ability to drive these speakers the way they are meant too.
After doing a lot of research.. i have been looking at the following models. Yamaha V663, Denon 2308CI, Yamaha v1800, Onkyo 705,805. I already know the opinion of some members hear about the onkyo 805's.. I wanted to get some opinions on the other receivers..
I don't care about the new codecs because I use the PS3 as my blu-ray player, and shortly it will have the ability to decode DTS-HD. I am primarliy interested in the receiver's options for calibration, sound quality if that is even tangible, and power to handle the new speakers coming in.
So any opinions would be most appreciated.
But I suppose I should stay with what I got since it is working fine.
Sincerely,
Rockarruda
