Reading fodder for a Friday Afternoon

    Greetings,

I was talking to my father about some of the speakers He owns  and found an interesting review that is pretty good reading.

My father also has a dual 12" M&K sub listed here:  http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volume_3_1/v3n1k.html

    Edit...It's a12" subwoofer, not a 15"..My apologies.

No offense to Aperion, but this is truly one of the nicest sounding 2.1 systems I have ever heard....

Interesting how M&K used the same tweeter throughout it's entire lineup and also interesting is that M&K was a true pioneer in Sub/Sattelite systems...I'm sure they will be missed by many...

    Anyway, hopefully someone will enjoy

    Hi Dan,

M&K did make some great sounding speakers. In fact, M&K is one of the reasons we are in business. Our founder, Win Jeanfreau was shopping for new speakers and he really loved some M&K models he listened to but they were outside of the budget set aside for his purchase. He had built some speakers in the past and he knew he could match the M&K sound for a lot less money. One thing led to another and EdgeAudio was born.

Just wondering John...My father also had some M&K S1-B's and the interesting thing about them was that they had dual tweeters and dual 6"woofers..That's a lot going into a sattelite.  I'm just wondering what the advantages to that configuration were and was also wondering that with the advances in today's technology, if a single driver/tweeter configuration, found in most sattelites of today (Cough Aperin Bookshelves) can offer similar performance...

As stated before his setup sounds superior to mine in terms of 2.1 channel music.. But it is not fair to compare my 5B's with his M&K's becuase he is pushing them with a   GFA 555-II 200WPC Adcom  amp and Im pushing with a measley 90WPC Yamaha AVR.  I'm thinking that if I had 200WPC of clean amp power that there is a lot more to uncover with these Aperion sattelites...Not just talking minor differences here...i could be wrong though?

BTW...Good Luck at the sale tomorrow..

2300 miles is a lot of ground to cover otherwise I'd be there picking up some A stock 533T's and 422 and 533VAC Bstock...
