All good here, no hate, just opinions.  AND btw, negative opinions are usually welcome on boards such as these.  Apears to be typical growing pains, and thats a good thing.  Its a change thing and in general, people don't like that.

I don't care about the end of days reference...  My opinion was WTF - 2012, damn must be a problem with China and piano colored speakers.

As for the new line...  Bring it, love it, want to hear it.  Don't know if I can swing it.

Only beef is with the INTIMUS going bye-bye.  Seems like it should stick around a little longer.  And with the abrupt departure, people start wondering.  Not enough margin, Not enough space, Not enough resources to maintain wo lines, Some or all of the above, Something else that noone on this board even has a clue about.  Just wanted another month or so to debate the 533 or 633.

     All good things.

Re: They are here! Introducing Bravus Subwoofers

As one poster explained that written words do not convey tone of voice.  I should know, I use email as a communication tool at work all day.  Email is definately not the best tool for communication but many people prefer it over talking on the phone.  Nonetheless, seemingly meanless comments can be taken the wrong way if they are in written words.  I always look at things in a more positive light and in this situation I would find it hard believe that an Aperion representative would ridicule a current or potential customer, that wouldn't make sense.

I want to thank the Aperion staff for staying involved in this discussion board as there are a lot of thoughts going through some of our minds right now.  I've been researching Aperion speakers for months, sometimes even having wet dreams at night about purchasing them, oops can I say that :)  Believe me I had to perform a lot of favors for my wife, some naughty ones to, to get the green light to purchase.  Can you imagine having a limited budget and having to wait about 5 weeks to finally order your speakers while being forced to listen to some cheap HTIB in the mean time.  It was hell I tell you!  Anyway, no where in my wildest dreams did I ever think that journey to purchase Aperion speakers would bring me to these forums.  I finally purchase my Speakers on sunday night and all hell has broken loose!  Damn, is that an Omen or what?

Anyway, after my reading here, I am sure that if you pick up the phone, call aperion and explain the situation, there is a good chance that something might be able to be worked out.  The really can't just come out here and say, yeah well do this for you, kind of like putting it in writing.  This evening, after some thought today I find myself in a happier place (can you believe I've been worried about speakers the last couple days? I mean what about my poor kids and wife that miss their daddy :) )  Anyway, I haven't decided what I want to do yet...I bought the award winning 532's, 422's an533 VAC, because of the reviews I read, so really why am I soo anxious to upgrade?  I'm going to be sensible.  I'm going to give em a listen and If I like em I'm goiing to save myself a couple hundred, by not returning them for the new 5b's, and wait a year for what I really, really, dream about...The towers :)

The only thing that i'm just a little bummed about is that they are not keeping these things around as a value line for the people who can't afford the price increase.  So I guess, if your on the bubble, you better start smooth talking the wife, buy some flowers and give a full body massage, because now's the time to get em before their gone!

     No hard feelings for me....

OH!  before I forget.  Recieved my shipping note yesterday.  Kelli packed my speakers and showered them with confetti.  That's pretty hot if you ask me!  Thanks Kelli.  Can't wait to get'em

Word, everyone's opinion is absolutely welcome and if we can have a little fun at the same time then this forum will have served its purpose.

As for the old Intimus it's not exactly as though they are disappearing down a hole forever.  There will be more returns over the next 30 days and after that, customers will do trade ups over the next year.  So if you are really set on something from the current line just be diligent in checking with us for A stock and I can guarantee you that we will be able to get you the speaker you really want.  Sure it may take a little extra work, but you'll also save 15% off a speaker that is basically in new condition.

    w00t!

All right, I'll keep my shirt on.  But when I get those graphs, all bets are off!

I know that people just love itwhen a sub goes flat down to 16 or 18.  Still not sure if its the sub or the room acoustics yet, but man does it sell subs.

    Holla!!

    Good work guys.

Re: They are here! Introducing Bravus Subwoofers

Well it sounds as though this forum has begun to right itself after a few disturbing hours.  It's been interesting to sit back and watch the situation evolve as both members and the Aperion staff felt their way through this situation.  Most important points have already been made by other members more learned than I but, here's my two cents.

There were four things that attracted me to the Aperion line:  Quality equipment, reasonable prices, the execution of a great business model (yes, I really appreciate the effort that goes into it) and this forum.  I've lurked on AVS and other forums trying to learn a bit of the technical side but, no other forum came close to communicating the camaraderie of this one.  As a newcomer,  that "family" feeling was a big draw for me.  Family arguments are expected and I appreciate that this one has been turned around by all.

Having said that, I can only speculate on the business decisions here but, a couple of points may be worth noting.  One is that the Aperion folks have heard loud and clear that there's member demand for the maintenance of the Imtimus line as an entry level option.  Maybe there are good business reasons why Aperion's chosen not to go that way but, if production is still possible, it may be worth conducting a little market research to be sure that the decision is the correct one.  After all,  there's a lot of branding, positioning and marketing effort being given up here.  Second, we've heard that Aperion hasn't raised prices in years.  It doesn't take a math major to figure out that their cost of goods must be eating away at their margins.  Production costs in China where the speakers are assembled are sky rocketing.  As much as I appreciate the business model, it has to be sustainable.

Finally, I can personally attest to the care and flexibility with which the trade-in issues are being handled by the company.  I've spoken to Oliver and others over the past couple of days and they've bent over backwards to to see that I get a chance to audition the new sub line.  The policies that you're hearing Caleb discuss this evening are not a reaction to the forum but, their way of doing business and I applaud them for it.

I've lost track of which member said it but, listen to the wise man who suggested that you simply pick up the phone and call them to discuss your own situation.  Remember that it was their customer service that brought your here In the first place.

And by the way, I really appreciate everyones' open discussion and willingness to help other members over the last few months.

    Cheers

     Michael

Re: They are here! Introducing Bravus Subwoofers

    Nice site btw...  Bravus Microsite

I second that, this forum, while quite heated lately, is just another reason why we chose Aperion.  Something that has gotten lost in this back-and-forth, we all still have awesome speakers (at an affordable price), with a company and product that we're obviously passionate about.  I'm sure Aperion has listened to these comments and taken them to heart.  For all of us current Intimus owners, I'm sure we'll beg, plead (and possibly hide a few $$ from the wives) to continue our obsession.  For the newbies looking at Aperion for the first time, all I can say is skip the imported beer and buy domestic.  That should cover the small price difference in the new line.

Re: They are here! Introducing Bravus Subwoofers

This has turned into great reading. And I'm really glad to see the Aperion guys chiming in, because while it may have been the price/performance calculus that initially sold me on your speakers, it was your uniformly-excellent customer service that turned me into an advocate for the brand.

So here's my take, not that anyone asked for it. I think that Aperion was going to have to bow to cost pressures at some point anyway (have you seen the dollar lately?) and it makes sense to couple that with a genuine move upmarket in materials and performance. That said, the new price points will put the new designs up against a lot more serious competition. At $750 a pair, my 533-Ts are kicking ass. At $1,000 a pair, I can get the new 5-Ts or -- say -- some Monitor Audio RS-6s. That means the 5-Ts better really bring it!

As far as the in-house stuff goes, yeah I'm disappointed that I apparently can't upgrade, but clearly Aperion are within the letter of their policy as far as "subsequent revisions" go. I'm not so sure they're also within the spirit of statements like: "Our program is simple: if you simply decide that you’d like a larger, more expensive speaker -- or we create something new and amazing that you just have to have -- you can trade in your original speaker toward the new speaker at its full value!"

If you ask me, new cabinets + new electronics + new drivers = new speaker, but I'm not going to call the Whaaambulance. They've got a business to run and certainly have no obligation to eat the significant costs involved in making a subset of existing owners happy. I'm also sure they've thought through whether this is the right decision in the long run.

Very keen to see how the new subs perform, anyway, as I think the built-in EQ and small form factor make them a potentially killer product. Whatever else happens, I'll definitely be punting the curent Intimus sub for a 10" Bravus in my TV room.

    Peace and yoghurt y'all,

    Stretch.

Re: They are here! Introducing Bravus Subwoofers

I though I would just add my perspective concerning price of the new lines.  Before I found Aperion I had settled on a 5.1 system from Quad.  A highly respected UK producer of speakers.  The system was called Quad L-ITE.  This system gets great reviews.  The front and surrounds are 1" soft dome and a 4" woven material woofer.  Center is the same but with an additional 4" driver.  Also a 10" sub with remote.  People rave about the finish on these (soud familiar?).  The tweeter looks identical as the 5 and 6 series Aperions.  They are made in China and I believe likely in the same manufacturing plant as Aperion due to the mentioned similaries.

My point is that this sytem goes for $2000.  When I was able to spec out an Apperion with 533's across the front, 422 in the back and S10 in the 1700's I was pleased.  So now I can go for the 5T's across the front with the new 4's in the rear and get the Dual 8 sub for what I was originally planning to pay, and I am confident it will be a better system to boot.

I don't think the new prices are going to cost Aperion many customers.

You know what they say about opinions though.

Re: They are here! Introducing Bravus Subwoofers

Russ, just curious, will the new Dual 8 sub goes as low as your previous 10" sub (or the Intimus S10)?  Not sure, but I doubt it.  You still have an awesome system, just worth pointing out there is a difference (albeit slight).  I have the Bravus 10D ordered so I'm a fan of the new subs also.

Re: They are here! Introducing Bravus Subwoofers

According to the specs, the new Bravus 8" sub is -3dB at 35Hz and -6dB at 30Hz. The previous S-10 was specified down to 25Hz. I would love to see the graphs on the new subs and hope that John will post them here.

Re: They are here! Introducing Bravus Subwoofers

Actually I don't currently have an Aperion HT system.  I have been very impressed with everything about Aperion and plan to get a system this year.  Honestly I was a little worried about the 533 towers based on a couple of little comments I heard so what I have mow heard about the new 5 series has really got me excited!
