Thanks Caleb, Could You do me a favor and look into the Bravus8 That I returned and see if something was wrong with it. I know the remote did not work for one thing. I'M just curious, I could not get the same amount of bass as the s8 and I had it at level 20. Also I had to turn it up thru the reciever. Thanks

Hmmm. . . sounds like you might have benefited from Caleb's post here:

We have not been able to replicate any issues with the Bravus 8Ds that we have here, but rest assured we inspect and test every return once we receive them.  We are aware that the input sensitivity of the Bravus line is somewhat low, but altering the settings at your receiver should take care of the problem.  As for the remotes, a few have been sent out that were indeed defective, sorry about that.

Yeah I wasn't thinking of replacing the S8 since it does pack a punch.. Just was wondering how the new 8D compared to it... I like the look of the Intimus line and wouldn't want to change what  I have now unless it was free :)

    Jason,

First off I love my new toys.  I am going to write up a complete impressions post Monday but I though I would say something about the Bravus 8D here.

I got every thing hooked up late Friday evening.  I am using a lowly Onkyo 503.  I used the sub out on the Onkyo, reciever crossover set to 80 to match the 5B recommendation, eventually settled the volumn to -5 on the sub, everything works perfect.  It is always on when it should be and shuts off sometime after it is no longer needed.  That was my total setup procedure, the only thing that took some time was deciding on the volume setting, which I finially settled by Saturerday evening after listening to a lot of music.

At first I though my remote did not work, and I thought oh no I got problems as well.  I decided to check the battery and noticed the little plastic tab, that I thought was to help me pull the protective cover off the top, actually came out of the battery compartment.  Gave it a yank and all is well.

    Cheers

Awesome Russ, glad to hear the system is rocking and thanks for the tip on the remote I will pass that along!

Ah yes. The infamous, Battery Life Voltage Protection Circuit.  One always needs to safely disable this feature before proper operation is can begin.  The BLVPC is usually only found in today's most technological advanced electronics!

    Russ,

Thank you! You may have just saved the entire Bravus Community on that one. And honestly, I'm not trying to be bubbly.  I can see how such a small detail such as the BLVPC could cause headaches.

BTW.  Is there mention of the BLVPC in the Bravus manual?

    Re: Bravus 8d subwoofer

    Hey Bubbles... I mean.... Dan,

The BLVPC does not seem to be getting the attention it merits in our Bravus subwoofer manual. I think an addition to page 6 of the manual is in order. Not only can instructions for removing the BLVPC be employed but I think a battery polarity guide might also be of use. I've "fixed" many a Bravus remote by flipping the battery over.

I'll get on that manual update and see to it that future itterations have the necessary BLVPC info. Seriously. Should we call it the BLVPC, though? If so, I imagine you'll want some sort of acronym finders fee or something, yes? ;-)

    Re: Bravus 8d subwoofer

I hope it's ok to ask this in the Aperion forum. I realize I will most likely get biased responses, but I'm hoping for some honesty. :)

I'm about to pull the trigger on the 4T hybrid system with an upgraded (5C) center. However, I keep questioning the 8D sub.

    So...

How does the Bravus 8D compare to some of the more popular subs (in the similar price range), like the HSU VTF-2 MK3 or SVS PB-12 NSD? I can't seem to find many Bravus owners on the AVS forum, so it's hard to get any comparisons or objective opinions. Then again, maybe this isn't the best place to ask about other brands? ;)

    Re: Bravus 8d subwoofer

I just ordered the 4T, 5C, and 8D today, along with some in-ceilings for the rears.  Can't wait to hear them.  I know this might be in left field, but is it possible to program my Logitech Harmony One to control the 8D?  I'm thinking that setting macros into the One when switching between music, movies, games might be easier than using the 8D remote to do the same thing.  Anyone ever tried that?

I think this was dicussed when the Bravus line came out.  Check out this forum http://www.aperionaudio.com/community/forums/thread/5810.aspx and see if it is in there.

Oh, I have the 8D and a pair of 5Bs.  They make good music together.  I plan to upgrade my 5Bs to 4Ts and pick up the 4C and 4Bs in the next few month.  I'll be real interested in you impressions of the 4Ts.

    Cheers

Thanks Russ. I read the thread and there was mention of forthcoming IR codes but didn't see them actually listed.  I've searched the Logitech site with no results.  I'll keep hunting.
