Looking at the Aperion speakers and very interested. However, my setup has a plasma TV above the fireplace. I have been looking at low profile speakers that mount directly to the wall but they never seem to sound as good as a good bookshelf or tower speaker and they cost at least twice as much. I don't want to spend 2500.00+ on a system that looks great but sounds average. I was thinking of getting 5Bs for front and 5C for center. It looks like I can get the BT15 wall bracket for the 5C and mount it directly against the wall (which is brick!). If I mount the 5B to the brick using a BT77 or omni mount it looks like it would put them too far out from the wall (and pretty far past the mantle) and look pretty bad.
1) How far out from the wall will the BT77 and omni mount put the 5B?
2) Is it possible to mount a 5B against the wall and not adversely affect the audio response? I see that they are rear ported.
3) Is it possible to use the 5C as a L/R speaker? I ask this because they have an enclosed cabinet and may work better against the brick.
4) How much of a negative impact on sound would it have to mount a 5C vertically? I see the tweeter/midrange layout may not work with vertical placement.
My room is 24w x 16d x 12h. The brick around the fireplace is 11 feet wide by 12 feet high (to the ceiling). The brick wall is centered on a 24 foot wall. I've tried to find somewhere else to mount the TV but due to the room layout the fireplace area makes the most sense.
Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am battling with this decision.
