    Aperion 4T's

Anyone notice the new 4T's they slipped in the tower section?  Not sure how i feel about it yet. Definately got me curious. Same frequency response as the 5T"s?  Is this accurate do they really go down to 50hz?

My guess is that these are going to stack up real well against the old 533T's.  And may satisfy some of the poeple who were complaining about the price increases.  For those of you who couldn't afford the new 5T's and couldn't get ahold of the old 533T's then this may be the anwer you are looking for.

Obviously I'm gonna want to hear what the Aperions Gurus impressions are of hem and how they stack up against the 5B's..

    Care to talk about em?

That's classified Dan, I could tell you my impressions, but then I'd have to kill you.

Seriously though, they sound amazing, way better than I thought any speaker with 4" drivers could ever sound.  Let me spend some time A/Bing them with the 5Ts and I'll give you my thoughts.

    Jason,

Please spend some time A/B'ing them with the 5B's...I'd be curious to know if they would be considered an upgrade over the 5B's..i'm thinking they would be a substantial upgrade over the 5B's with the improved Bass Performance.  Probably offer superior depth and really project that soundfield into the room.

Looking at the Specs these things might even outperform the old 533T's

I just did a quick A/B of all three and the 4Ts completely destroyed the 5Bs in the bass department, and also had a bit more midrange presence.  The only reason I would say to go with the 5Bs instead of the 4Ts would be if your wife won't let you have speakers on the floor or if you are so strapped for cash that $200 will break the bank.

The 5Ts still have the edge in terms of midrange fullness, especially in the mid-high department around 2-3k or so and they also have a wider soundstage but remarkably the bass response sounded fairly similar.

    Re: Aperion 4T's

I would add that each of the towers are probably best suited to particular room size. The 4T's have incredible bass and amazing imaging but they are best suited to small or medium size rooms when used as main speakers. If you have a medium to large room the 5T's are more appropriate and the 6T's are best in large rooms. If you do have a large room, the 4T's would make awesome surround speakers however.

    Aperion 4T's

    Man oh MAN!

The 4T is sounding amazing right now. I think I'm going to have to replace the 632-LRs I have for my vinyl listening rig with the 4T. I still love the 632-LR and the 6B and they will always be in rotation somewhere in my home, but the 4T has this "WOW" factor to it that you just can't deny. I think that's what has me so excited about them. The bass reponse is taught and very well timed. Placement? How about anywhere. With so little baffle surrounding the tweeter, the imaging is effortless. The 5T still has a deeper soundstage to it and the midrange has more of a room filling quality to it but when you take the 4T's size and stature into account the value is amazing. I think we have a winner on our hands.

    Re: Aperion 4T's

    Good Point!

So here's where I could realy use a Guru's knowledge....I really want 5T's in here but don't think I can afford them.  So Take a look at my setup and tell me what's going to work better 4T's or 5B's?

    Here's my setup... (10x20 room)

The 5B's are about 16 feet away from the middle of the sofa.  i tried my best to get scaling somewhat realistic but it is a quick sketch.  As i've noted before I'm really struggling to get that depth in 2 channel music from the 5B's when sitting on the Sofa.  i need to move more towards the middle of the room for two channel listening. However, multichannel music is pretty good with this setup.

    5Bs
    5C
    4B's
    Non-Name Brand 12" subwoofer

    Re: Aperion 4T's

Spent the last half hour or so doing some A/B action with the 4T's this morning...Grooooan...My job is so hard! Geeked

Tough to add to what's already been said. Listened to some Norah Jones, Radiohead, Nirvana, Sigur Ros and others. In reference to Dan's post, I tried to do a lot of switching between the 4T's and 5B's. I love me some 5B's, but the differences were pretty vast in my opinion. "Don't Know Why" from Miss Jones had much fuller and "thicker" piano and the 4T's gave her voice more of a lifelike, in-room presence. The 4T also  handled the upright bass more gracefully...Just more fullness and richness with tons of definition. Our demo room has no open space so all the sound stays put (as much as sound can do such a thing) and this was very noticeable in the bass. I double checked to see if our subs were on when i first got to listening...And as Caleb mentioned, the imaging is pretty amazing. Because we have multiple speakers in the room, I doubt that the 4T's are placed 100% as good as they could be, but Norah was still pin point centered in our smaller demo room.

Also listened to Nirvana's rendition of "Where Did You Sleep Last Night" from their unplugged NY sessions (one of my favorite jams from the group BTW). The strings had a richer sound with more body then the 5B's, and the drums sounded a bit fuller and accurate to the live performance. No doubt due to the fact that they have a more abundant midrange.

I hope that didn't seem like a 5B bashing session...As I mentioned for their size and cost, they are definitely one of my favorites. There's a reason that they get rave reviews from customers and professional reviewers alike...But if the extra $200 you'll spend for a pair doesn't scare you off, and you love you some music then the 4T's are definitely worth your while. I expect some great reviews in the future...

    Re: Aperion 4T's

How is your stockpile of 4T's looking?  Did you get extra for the first shipment or do you forecast long waiting lists such as what was experienced when the 5B's and 5T's were first announced? If I recall you guys didn't order enough of those in the beginning?

We've got pretty good supply as of now my friend, but it's hard to tell how long they will last. Tis a tough job to forecast how quickly a brand new product will fly off the shelves.

    Re: Aperion 4T's

Hmm.Wondering if Kelli could somehow misplace a pair of 4T's in the wharehouse only to find them when I place my order :)

Well..Keep a/b'ing those things and keep us posted.  I'm going to lose more sleep at night until I figure out if this is a needed upgrade or not.

A whole lot of bubblin' going on. Where's 1 mile? He needs to get down here to check these out. Then a non-Aperion employee can submit their thoughts.

So question...when you test these, do you have them as Small or Large on your receiver?
Do or do not, there is no try.

    Caleb,

I am right here, I knew this was coming!!!  I would be willing to bet a 4t and a bravus 8d will mate soon for the new powered towers!!!  Oh that sounds nice.   I will be going by Peet's for a latte and then I will be in before 10 on Friday!  Folks I will post something this weekend on how they sound.

    Re: Aperion 4T's

    Guru's,

Why is the 4T's woofer Truncated?  Is it a different woofer than the 4B or the 4C?  More x-max, 8ohm???  Usually the woofers are all the same, right?  I prefer the trunicated look for some reason........I think the 4B and 4C would look a bit more refined with the same frame.  Just my 2 cents, they still sound AMAZING!  Is the crossover still the same design as the others, 2.5 way?  I will find out in the A.M.  I can't wait!
