It sounds like a sweet deal to get the 4T's and then trade up for the 5T's but.......once you get the 4T's you may want to keep them and have the 5T's too.  Then you'll have to go through withdrawal for giving up your beloved 4T's to get the 5T's. Just a thought as I want to make sure you consider your mental health first.

 I have one question for the Guru's....Any chance you guys could take some photos of the new "family" of towers next to each other like you did for the classical line? I'd like to see how the 4T looks next to the 5T. I know you guys list the dimensions, but I'd like to visually see them next to each other.

Haha. You guys are great. Thanks so much Jason. I can't say I've met a company that cares about helping customers after they've purchased products as well as help them using other companies products with yours! Most companies I've spoken with have you call the other company. Back to the point, those were some very nice photos, I think Jason should start getting paid to take photos as a side job, maybe try to sell the artistic shot to Aperion for rights. :) Very pretty line up of towers. I can't wait for somebody to buy some 4T's and return them so I might be able to get as open box items if Dan doesn't want them first. I have to say, now that I've had my 5T's for 3 weeks, I really cannot understand why I bothered to watch movies using my TV speakers before. I'm unsure of other's views on the 8D....but I cannot believe this is your SMALLEST sub... granted my room is smallish (12x25, with the listening area 12x12) but holy crap I've never heard some of the sounds that I hear re-watching my old standard DVDs. Anyway, I'll save that for a review. I have one question regarding using towers as surrounds since my sofa has pretty high arm-rests. I haven't taken out a tape measurer or else you-know-who will beat me with it for wanting to buy more at the moment, but.... would it be imperative to have the two mids on the 4T's clear the top of the sofa's armrest or just the tweeters?  Ear level on the sofa =just above the top of armrest to give you an idea. Right now I have my two 4B's on stands with the base of the 4B just above the arm chair height.

I completely agree with Russ. I'd love to see more. Being that I'm in NY I won't be able to come to portland anytime soon. I do love that cherry finish. I also like the sub without the grills on. I've never taken my grills off to see what it looks like. Very interesting. Maybe even a virtual tour is in order... :) Make sure you carry some water, however, because carrying so many cameras will quickly dehydrate you on these hot days.

I agree.  those of us that are over 38 hours away from Portland Oregon demand a 360 view of the demo rooms.  Make sure you can click and drag around to! Of course this would be an enhancement therefore the funds for such functionality would have to come from a different bucket.Oh wait, It's starting to sound like work.  Speaking of work, gotta get back!

 

Speaking of 360 degree views....I also recommend doing what bestbuy and circuity city do with their weekly fliers through the flash player. You can hold your mouse over it and it not only zooms in, but also tells you about the product. I think that would be fun....we could not only see what you guys have...but by clicking on it we can also see which equipment you have. I think you should then have companies giving you free products to put in your demo room for some good old product placement.

At the table in the demo room, there were three sets of speakers. Bubbly was hungry for some sound.  He tested the first speaker  "This speaker is too hot!" he exclaimed.

So, he tested the second speaker.

"This speaker is too cold," he said

So, he tested the last speaker.

"Ahhh, this speaker is just right," he said happily and he bought a pair.

It is indeed an Outlaw we use in our large demo room. It's the 7700 Amp with 990 Preamp combo. MAN does that thing make our speakers sing. We are big fans of Outlaw stuff. Internet direct company that sells (in our opinion) amazing electronics at a great value.

As for your 4T question, it would be ideal to have some clearance of the woofers above your couch, more or less depending on your listening preferences. For movies, your surrounds are encoded more with ambient effects/soundtrack info, and front to rear pans, etc. They play a smaller, more subtle role in your HT. If you were doing a lot of multi channel music listening, then your surrounds are going to be playing a larger role and working harder. That being the case, do you want your speaker firing into a couch, or your ears? Having a bit of clearance over your couch sides is going to give you a fuller, more directional sound that isn't tainted by your couch me thinks...

Lastly, we have some photoshoots of our own going down today. It's high time that Jason, Oliver and I ended up in the "Meet the Aperions" section of the website, so we'll be getting some photos snapped today of us looking all professional like. But if time permits, maybe me and Hicks can pop into our 2 demo rooms and take some shots. Maybe I should leave the snap shots to Jason. You guys seem to like his artistic vision...

Ha, I've got yer artistic vision right here! 

Great idea about the virtual tour of the soundroom guys, unfortunately I'm just a speaker monkey so that is beyond my capabilities but hopefully John is reading this and taking notes.  I'll try and get some other pictures up in the next couple of days though. 

As for the height of the 4Ts the lowest point of the bottom woofer is 23" so if you do plan on using it as a surround I think it would be best placed to your sides rather than behind a couch.

Question for the experts:

 

What would be the superior home theater setup (assuming you have a good sub), 4T's with a 4B or 5B's with a 5C?  Or would it be cool to mix and match?
