Well after a month with my Aperions

Well I have my Aperion for close to a month now I have 2 5T, 5C and 2 5B and wanted to report back to here  I can honestly say this has been the best speaker purchase I ever made. I always found that I enjoyed clearity in speakers but never found it with any of the speakers I had in the past until now. The Aperion are as close to perfect to my taste and what I have in my mind what a great speakers should sound like. Think much has to do with the center speaker it has really enchanced the sound of the system. I am hearing things I never heard before it is so percise and crystal clear. It is great having a system that is balanced so well.  All I need to do is add a good subwoofer to my system and I will be in heaven. Thank you gurus I bow to your wisdom of educating me to the ways of Aperion.

    Sweet Dale!

Glad you are enjoying your speakers so much. Ya know, a  little birdy told me that a hat might be sent your way if you leave reviews for your individual speakers...Wink

    Hey Dale!

Thanks for your post! If you don't mind, can you tell us what receiver you are using with this system that has made you so happy? I think it really helps our forum members make receiver purchasing decisions as they are reviewing their options. Thanks!

Re: Well after a month with my Aperions

Caleb, I am using a Yamaha RXV-2500. I do hate the automatic sound set up on it the YPAO is a piece of junk, but manual works fine and the reciever is solid and the Aperions sound great with it.

Funny story to tell you when I was hooking up my speakers I hooked up the center first and my partner ran into the family room and said he could hear the improvement. I laughed when I told him this was just the center and had not even hooked up the fronts or rear yet. Still am working on the SPL meter and not sure if I am using it correctly but the arrow seems to line up even on all the speakers so I guess that is right but it does sound balanced to my ears and that is all that matter.

    Dale,

This link may help you with using the SPL meter:

    http://www.aperionaudio.com/AperionU/spl.aspx

It sounds like you are doing it right...you are right that as long as you have the same readings from all your speakers, you are in good shape.

And when I mentioned the review, you can click on an individual speakers link and there will be a link that says "review this product"...If you are so inclined, feel free to do so!

Re: Well after a month with my Aperions

I noticed on my SPL meter that during the test tones the needle moves a little bit.  Like +/- 1 DB wiggle room.  So it isn't easy for me to get a 100% accurate reading. Is this normal?

Re: Well after a month with my Aperions

Mine moves +/- 2db's when I do it. I think it's because on my onkyo the test tone is white noise (static) which itself isn't a constant tone. i try to guess where the middle is. If you watch it for 1-2 seconds you'll be able to estimate where the middle is and so long as that's the same you're good. I do stand away from it when I do it so I don't distort the sound either so I'm not sure if it's actually possible to make it perfectly constant. Oh well it's close enough for government work.

Yeah I believe the accuracy on the SPL meter is +/- 2 dB.

    David- I was so inclined

David, I did the reviews per your request. I thought I would run out of space..I did not.

We were listening to one of Elton John Song on SACD last night Rob turned around to me and said I do not like this song but I do like the sounds coming from the speaker...There were crowd noises in the background on the CD and he told me he could almost hear what they were saying. That is what a great speaker system is suppose to do.

Re: Well after a month with my Aperions

    Hi Dave,

    I have a new RXV3900 with a 6T 5.1 setup.

How did you get around the YPAO setup and manually calibrate?
