Re: Onkyo 805 Shut Off Problem
Hey Dan, I could not be more pleased with my Aperions. I have 2 (632) fronts driven with the 805 and 2 (532) fronts driven by a separate amp. 2 (422) and 1 (532) as center hooked in series/parallel. 2 (534-SS) as side surround 2 (534-SS) as rear surround 1 S-10 Sub I have all these speakers because I upgraded and did not want to send any back so I found ways to utilize the speakers I replaced. It was fun to experiment with all the different configurations I had. The S-10 was my first Aperion purchase and I was so pleased with it that now (thank God) I have no more room for speakers. I did just get Narnia Prince Caspian and really enjoyed it on my setup. Jack

Re: Onkyo 805 Shut Off Problem
Jack Gates:Hey Jason, Yes I did. People revitalize threads that have been dead on this forum for a year or more.
Indeed they do and usually the original poster is long gone and never replies to their response. In your case though you didn't bump the thread to offer anything that is helpful to the original poster, but instead went out of your way to invalidate Dan's post. How does the community benefit from that? Jack Gates:My point is if someone posts a question regarding a specific piece of equipment, the poster might want to hear from someone who actually owns that equipment and has experience with it.
Of course, that doesn't mean that others can't offer general troubleshooting advice either. If a piece of information is patently untrue then it should be refuted, but if instead it just doesn't really pertain to their situation is that such a big deal? Is it really that bad of an idea for Fred to check his wire connections? Was the tragedy of unnecessary wire connection checking the crisis you were trying to avert with your post?
Jack Gates:If you have a Corvette would you take it to a Ford dealership for a diagnosis?
If my car overheated and the Ford dealership was 100 yards away, yes I probably would. Jack Gates:Jason, are we Friends or Foe?
We can be friends if you can play nice and do not go out of your way to be disrespectful to the other members of this forum. I consider all of the regular posters here friends and if I think that someone is being rude to them, be it you or anyone else, I am not going stand for it and I will say something. I do appreciate the knowledge you bring to the forum, but I would also ask that you think about the tone of your advice before you hit the post button. Thanks.

Re: Onkyo 805 Shut Off Problem
Wow. That's a lot of speakers! I must say, I am soo pleased with my s-10 as well. I can't believe the clean ouput it produces and its room filling capabilites. During movies it sounds as if Bass is coming out of my rear 4B's, even sitting 15 feet away from the sub. I am so glad i jumped on the opportunity to pick up the refurb, even if it meant delaying my tower upgrade. Jason, Appreciate your comments, but I think we got this under control. I think Jackson just misunterstood the tone in which my post was meant to convey. That's the problem with communication through writing. We all react to negativity and criticism in different ways. It's all good. Oh and thanks again for that s-10, i'm loving it! Just waiting for the 4t's now...Whistle, whislte. But, I guess we're getting off topic here. Besides, it's Friday and that Pabst is starting to sound really good about now.

Pabst? Have you ever seen Blue Velvet? Anytime I hear Pabst, I think of Dennis Hopper saying to a very young Kyle MacLachlan......"Heineken.....f#$k that s%^t......Pabst Blue Ribbon!" Very wierd, but very good movie. David Lynch is one wierd dude for sure!

Yes!!! I love that movie...Dennis Hopper is genius in that movie. I used to have that quote from that scene on my cell phone. When people would get my voice mail on my cell phone, they would hear: "Heineken.....f#$k that s%^t......Pabst Blue Ribbon!!!!"

I thought that was the ONLY reason to drink PBR. I was born and raised in Chicago, so Old Style was it....for the same reasons. Glad to say that I have moved on....Guiness for the win!

Re: Onkyo 805 Shut Off Problem
A beer thread, now we're talking! A long time ago in a place far far away I had this friend that swore by Heineken, best beer ever, the only thing he'd drink, blah blah blah. He'd be offended if you didn't have some in the fridge when he stopped by. I try to be accomodating but I also didn't have much money (I was in the Air Force at the time). After one visit I saved his empty Heineken bottle and washed it out. The next time he visited I carefully poured a PBR into the empty bottle and served it to him. He took a sip, smacked his lips and went on and on about what a great beer Heinekin was. Anyone ever had a P.O.C. beer? It stood for Pride Of Cleveland but most locals changed the Pride to another word beginning with P that I'm too polite to post but it rhymes with kiss. Nasty stuff but it was cheap! If you had some bucks you bought Rolling Rock and if you knew a trucker he might bring you in some Coors. I have no idea what any of this has to do with an Onkyo 805 shutting off but I do know that if you drink enough beer you won't care.
Joe If you can't have fun doing it, it's probably not worth doing.

Re: Onkyo 805 Shut Off Problem
Good beer stories....we drank cheap beer back in the old days, too. My "favorite" was Iron City Ale. Sold in an 8-pack of 16 oz bottles, marketed as a gallon of ale. Cost: $1.98 (mid-1970's) as I recall. People asked if I liked that beer. I always answered that once you gagged the first one down, the rest tasted pretty good. I agree with Joetag, Rolling Rock was a treat back then and nothing tasted better than a bootleg Coors before they expanded distribution. I am originally from Ohio but never had the pleasure of drinking P.O.C. When we were really broke we drank Handley's Beer and it sold for 99 cents a 6-pack. It never tasted good, no matter how many you drank.

Grew up in SE Indiana, we were practically neighbors. I remember the old road trips of the 18 year olds for the 3.2 beer. Cheers

Re: Onkyo 805 Shut Off Problem
Ahhh yes, teh beers. They don't call Portland, OR "beervana" for nothing. Here's what currently resides in my fridge:
Jubleale, the king of Christmas beers from my favorite brewery Deschutes out of Bend, OR. One thing about this beer is that it varies from year to year, this year's was good but 2007 was AMAZING. I wish I had stashed a case of it, as I've heard this stuff ages well too.
Terminal Gravity ESG, Extra Special Golden. Another brewery that ranks up high on my list, out of Enterprise, OR. The wife and I visited the brewery while on vacation in the Wallowas a couple of summers back, they had great food too. The IPA has been readily available for a while but they've been doing larger scale bottling of this outstanding lager recently, good stuff.
Not all good beer comes from the NW and this is one of my favorite UK beers, and much easier to get than the others I enjoy like Boddingtons and Tetleys.

Re: Onkyo 805 Shut Off Problem
The Optimator is indeed good, although if I'm going to go the German route I usually grab a Dunkel or Hefeweissbier. Ayinger, Franziskaner and Paulaner are some of my favorite brewers. Warsteiner is a nice light pilsner for summertime too.
