    5Bs, 5C, 4Bs, 12D...Up and running!

Excuse the bad lighting...it was dark last night when I got everything set up, so I snapped these quickly before I left for work.

I have concrete floors (well...practically everything, really), so there wasn't a very good way to run cable to the rears.  The above solution was something simple that I came up with, and it seems to work pretty well.

    Definitely gonna enjoy this!

Looks great!  Is the sub able to fill the room?  Just kidding.  What floor are you on anyway?

Oh yea, interesting book on the table!

    Cheers

LOL...wondered if anyone would notice that.  It's actually hilarious.  People can't help but pick the book up and look at it, which to me, is the point of a coffee table book.  Smile

Oh, and to answer your other questions:  I'm on the 21st floor, and yes...the sub is ridiculous.  I watched a movie last night and freaked out at the first sub hit.  Had to turn that sucker down.  Yes

One time some years ago I was staying at the Stouffers (actually I believe it is a Renaissance now) on the river, 14th floor sitting in the window with a nice bottle of wine during one hell of a thunder storm.  Very memorable evening.

Been to Chicago many times, it is a great town.

I actually love the way those 5B's look in that setup. Gives it that Studio feel..  But dude, a 12D on the 21st floor?  Are you kidding me?  You better get some Spackling Past, Window sealant and cement patch.  Maybe buy a couple bottles of pino for the neighbors to.

     Definately Grills offYes

Oh and Davey...It's not Daaaaaaaang!  It's more like Duuuuuuuuuuuuude!Surprise

HAHA...you guys crack me up.  Thanks for the compliments.

The nice thing about all the concrete?  It's like living in a bomb shelter.  And, the building is only about 40% full, so I have no neighbors to my side or below me.  Devil

I'm going into the empty places this afternoon, though, to test the sound and see what I can get away with.  Don't really want to get the cops called if I can help it when someone actually DOES move in.

Nice setup.  What made you pick the 5b with stands versus the 4T for front speakers?

    Re: 5Bs, 5C, 4Bs, 12D...Up and running!

At the time, I wasn't interested in much 2-channel music listening, so the 5B paired with the 12D seemed to be a better fit for me with primarily TV and HT use.

Got a new setup brewing that I'll be showing off in the next few days.  MWAHAHA  Devil

Nice way to start out the new year!  Can't wait to see the pics.  Are you in your new place yet?

    Re: 5Bs, 5C, 4Bs, 12D...Up and running!

My system: 4t as fronts, 4c as center, 4b as surrounds, 8d sub.

Question regarding my current setup with respect to setting my speakers to "large" or "small."

Would it be wrong to set all speakers to "large" with double bass setting  to ON?  My goal is to have the most complete soundstage possible.  Any pros/cons?

     Thanks..

I have 4Ts and a 4C (still waiting on the surrounds).  I have ther set to small and let the sub handle it.  I also set the crossover at 100.  Sound great.

    Russ,

I would recommend setting the 4T to "large" in order to take full advantage of the midrange speakers.  Just be sure to set your sub to "plus" or "double bass."

Yup.  Just moved in.  Getting everything unpacked, set up, and situated.  Slow and steady...
