About to be a new owner

    Hey guys,

I know the frequency of posts here is pretty few and far between, so I thought I'd contribute while I anxiously await the FedEx guy.  Smile

Just picked up a new 5.1 setup (5C, 5B's, 4B's, and a 12D), and I'm excited!!  I'll be sure to post pics when I have them all set up.

Big thanks to David for holding my hand through this.  This is my first foray into audiophile-quality speakers.

    Cheers,

    PJ

    PJ,

What kind of AVR are you using to pump this system? You have virtually the same set up as me, except I have 5Bs all around. In hindsight, I should have saved a few sheckles and got the 4 Bs for surround, but oh well.

I love my system. It is the first time I have a home system that sounds better than my car system! I am running mine with an Onkyo 805.

Sorry...forgot to mention that.  Running everything with an Onkyo 876.

I almost did the same thing as you and went 5B all around, but I realized that with my primary use being HDTV and Home Theater, I could stand to have smaller speakers in the back.

I live in a pretty small space, currently, so I decided not to overdo it with 5T's, though it would've been pretty sweet.  Honestly, had there been 4T's in stock, I would have strongly considered those as well.

Funny you mention the home vs car thing.  When I decided to make this purchase, I realized how I must becoming an adult.  Still spending money on toys...it's just that the toys have been upgraded and are more refined.  My car is still a hobby of mine, but less so in the stereo department.

Welcome to the Aperion family.  You won't be disappointed.  Just a tip, sub setup will probably be the most difficult part but when you get it right you will be pleased.

Chicago is a great town.  Been there many times.

    Cheers

Not true. Jason is a cat addict of sorts. He's always looking at those cat pictures with captions...Actually just yesterday he was watching some youtube video of the most awesome cats ever, or something like that. Actually it was pretty funny...

Re: About to be a new owner

Well...just to report back...my 5.0 stuff showed up today.  Sub gets here Monday.  Will post pics once it's all set up.

Even without the sub, these are RIDICULOUS.  Amazing clarity, and I'm only about 10 minutes into the process of listening.  Really surprised at how good the response is even without a sub.  These are bookshelves!

Anyway...so far so good!  Just out of curiosity, have the gurus ever considered setting up a thread with owners willing to demo their systems for prospective buyers?  Once I have everything set up, I'd be more than happy to share the experience with someone in the area.

    Just a thought.

    More to come...
