Well, even though I have most of my Aperion's, just the 4 522D-LRs, I have decided to wait until I get my VAC Center to hook them all up. But in anticipation of that day I decided that I would get my wires all made up so that I can just plug and play on the big day. I ordered the 100 ft. spool of XPHP wire and all the needed pairs of banana plugs for my set up. By the time I cut them all and installed the lpugs I just couldn't resist doing a wire comparison. I am currently the proud owner of the original Energy Loudspeakers Take 5 system. Not the woofer, just the 5 speakers. So I set up a playback loop on a DVD and listened to it about eight times to really memorize it. The speaker I was focusing on was the center. The speaker wire currently being used is Radio Shack or Fred Meyer grade wire, not thin, but nothing like the new stuff I got. ALso, I am not currently using banana plugs, but flat connectors that I had to bend myself. I made the switch. Took out the old speaker wire and plugged the banana plugs into the receiver and the speaker and resumed listening to the same scene that I had just listened to. Whoa! The first thing I did was check my receiver, because I thought I might have bumped it and changed the 'mode'. That is what a big difference this made. I kicked myself for not investing in this nice of wire and connectors years ago. I honestly thought that the whole speaker wire thing was all a bunch of nonsense. Thanks to Aperion for suggesting this to me and now I can't wait to try this out with my new speakers. I'll probably post some pics of my setup in the My Home Theater threads. Stay tuned.
