Well....I pulled the trigger...dropped the hammer...whatever

I tried out the 533-PTs for a month but while they are very nice speakers I just couldn't get the HT rumble I wanted and there appears to be a slight dropoff at about 100hz that I noticed on some of the music I like.  Overall, I'd rate this pair as a 9 on the music scale and probably 7 for HT although the minor problems I had are most likely due to my individual tastes and room acoustics (a relatively large and asymetrical room).  Anyway, while I really liked their musicality off they went back to Aperion yesterday.  BTW, if anyone doubts Aperion's return policy don't, I had absolutely no problem.  One phone call, a couple of questions and the return shipping labels showed up in my e-mail an hour later.  Repackaged everything in the original packing with lots of tape, went on-line to FEDEX, and scheduled the pickup the next day.  Easy breezy pumpkin easy.

OK, so why the title?  Even though the 533-PT's don't suit my needs I was so impressed (sound, build quality, and customer service) I pulled the trigger on a pair of 533-Ts and 534-SSs plus a 533-VAC.  I figure the dual drivers on the 533-Ts combined with a new Outlaw LFM-1plus subwoofer (hey, it has 350watts and was on sale for the price of the S-10!) should be an outstanding combination.  As another big plus, and after a month of waiting, the new Onkyo TX-SR805 is now shipping (try J&R if you're interested) and mine'll be here in a few days.  130W, THX Ultra 2, 3 HDMI 1.3 inputs, DD TrueHD/DTS HD audio....pretty cool.  This'll be plugged into my Samsung 61" DLP, HD Cable/DVR, TiVo and Sony DVD player.  The next thing I think I'll need is a new HD player to plug up one of the remaining HDMI inputs but I'm going to wait a bit more to see if the Blu-Ray/HDDVD competition dies down with a clear winner (also gives my wallet some time to cool down).

I don't know about you guys but I know what I'll be doing next weekend.  Wife's visiting family in Texas for a few weeks and I'll have the entire house to myself and the new system.
