The color is pretty close to mm SVS Sub and my Entertainment center. I am running a Outlaw 7700 and 970, Aperion 6T's, SVS12 Plus 2, NHT AC-1 Center, and Super One surrounds. I think I might replace the center too with a 6C.

Well, I felt like posting my living room as it is now, and then updated pics once everything arrives and is in place. As a reference, the room is 13.5 feet deep and 16 feet wide. The TV is a Sony 42" LCD projection display, model #KDF-E42A10. Starting from the top right going clockwise: the XBOX 360 HD DVD player; XBOX 360 Arcade (my old 360 died a month ago right after the warranty expired, so since I already had a 120GB hard drive, I replaced it w/ the cheapest version); Directv HD-DVR; and the Nintendo Wii. The television stand is about a month old: the Horizon N702 from StandoutDesigns.com. Its solid maple w/ cinnamon finish, tinted glass doors, vented glass shelves, and active cooling system for both sides of the stand where the components occupy. The virtual surround sound system currently in place is the Sharp SD-SP10. The speaker system I ordered is the Intimus 4T Hybrid SD in Cherry. I've received the 4B's, 4C, & 8D, w/ the 4T's set to arrive in late May. I'm also waiting on the Onkyo TX-SR607 that I pre-ordered, which starts shipping this month. Please let me know what you think. Also, the empty speaker stands to the left & right of the couch that will one day cradle their very own 4B's are the Gemini2's from Omnimount, and the mini fridge, which gets commissioned about one Saturday a month for UFC events, is from Kenmore. Two remotes are used: Directv remote for the Directv box, and the XBOX 360 universal remote from Logitech for everything else. Oh, and sorry for the lighting issues in the pictures... I'll try to figure it out for the next batch

The sound is just great now. I have the 4T toed in ever so slightly and I put the brass feet in the front to lean them back a bit.

Acoustic Treatments added

Ordered some new goodies last week:

GIK Acoustics 244 x 2

GIK Acoustics 242 x 3

GIK Acoustics Tri-Traps x 2

The 244's and the Tri-Traps showed up, so I thought I'd throw up a couple of pics. For those curious, the 242's are going to be portable and go along the windows when I'm rocking a BD or similar. But I wasn't about to give up the view permanently. :-)

Initial impressions? Wow. It took a minute, because I can't imagine this room would ever be easy to tame, but there is a DEFINITE difference. It's tough to describe, though. The best way I can think of is, is that the sweet spot is simply sweeter. The level of clarity is ridiculously improved. Had to actually turn up the sub which did the sub a LOT more justice. Everything is just tighter from top to bottom. I have the feeling that adding the 242's to lessen the impact of those huge windows will make an even bigger difference.

Needless to say, I'm really happy, and the experience in both assessing my room, and purchasing from GIK can only be rivaled by the customer service found in Aperion's crew. Amazing experience from start to finish. Highly recommend.

My Aperion Mancave............

I just got my Broncos Mancave set up, I still need to hide the wires with some covers to match the paint scheme. I have a Panasonic 58" Plasma with 5t's up front and a 5C, 10D and 4b's for the surround. What do you think of it? I wish I could figure out how to get a larger picture on here.

that you would not believe. Add in the tv, the Denon AVR along with the Aperion speakers

and OMG!!!! My Friends with Bose systems shake their heads in regret. Got to love mid life crisis.

New TV Stand

I've been on the hunt for a new TV stand for a while. As I bought my old one before upgrading my gear, I didn't do a very good job of future-proofing potential setups. There was literally no room for the Onkyo to breathe, and should I ever upgrade my center to a 6C (likely), there was no wiggle room there, either.

Aside from those things, there was nothing wrong with my old one, in terms of the build quality or anything, but I wanted to use the space issues as an excuse to also dabble in a different style.

Aperion Setup

Picked up the Hybrid 5T-DB Hybrid setup back at the beginning of the year and have finally finished the initial room layout. Since I was able to do the fun part (speakers, screens, etc.) I'll leave the aesthetics to my wife!

I could not be happier with the Aperions, as they have really filled up that room. Placement of the DB's was a bit unconventional, but the room dictated that move. I love the cherry finish, but matching with existing furniture didn't happen, although it usually dark in there anyway!

Thanks again to Aperion for the help in deciding on a system and for providing great speakers and an excellent online resource for learning about them.

I thought I'd take some photos pre and post upgrade to give people a look at the relative sizes of the 5T's vs. 6Ts and 5C vs 6C. First is the image of the 5T's and 5C:

You can use the TV stand as a guide for how much larger the 6C is from the 5C. Images were taken from the same seat.

4B's have been moved higher and farther from the seating area to give a much better feel. I found keeping the 4B's too close to the sides of the sofa made the movie sound funny from sitting at the ends of the sofa. Single sided speakers in the ear are no good and gave a poor soundfield. Moving the 4B's away and higher up has greatly improved the sound.

6T-DB hybrid set up in an apartment

Well, I've been waiting to see my new niece so I figured I'd practice taking pictures...

I have a 6T-DB Hybrid now set up. The amazing thing is that the 6C is a perfect fit for the BDI Avion furniture I had.

And, I took a few pictures to show, but alas, it is telling me the maximum size is 100k. My pictures (after cropping) are all closer to 1MB each. Oh well, so much for sharing!

i used ikea tv benches to put everything on, unfortunatly the onkyo 606 wouldnt fit in there so she sits on top

the 4B's fit in these vertical cd shelves perfectly

the tv is a sammy 46" and i play all my movies through the PS3

Pics first, impressions second...

Pros -

- Similar build quality to the i29 stands for the 5Bs.

- Extension allows them to go high enough to clear couches, and get them to recommended heights without requiring wall mounting.

- Ability to lock the speaker down to the stand

- Cable management

Cons -

- Holy crap...these things are top-heavy. With a high quality (and high-density) speaker like these 4Bs are, there's just no way to make these balance well. And if you have kids, avoid these. They're just too wobbly.

- Cable management only works if you're installing from the get-go, or are interested in taking off your banana plugs to run the cabling. I wasn't. I'm sure you can see the jury-rigged way I got around it, but the tubing is just too small to accommodate.

Verdict -

- Gonna live with these for a bit and see, and am tempted to experiment with the height extensions. Still need to re-tune the speakers, too. I will likely keep these, but not because I'm amazed by them. I have a tough time disagreeing with the reviews you've seen on these. BUT...that being said...I just can't imagine that there are a whole lot of great alternatives out there. Short of a shorter stand, or a ridiculously large base, I just think that the quality of these speakers is what hinders them in this case. They're heavy for their size, and that makes finding great stands for them difficult.

Oh, and another high-five for great, fast service from Aperion on this purchase.

Just moved everything from wall mount to ceiling, other side of room. Still have to paint, have patched the holes thogh. Going to purchase a 6 shelf audio rack soon to clean up the front stage. Still debating if I want another 6T for the center. Guess all three photos did not show up. I have 2 speakers on wall mounts and 2 in back on wall mounts.

Hey all. So I haven't been around since I've been scouring craigslist for a new stand and just got it and put in my last piece of equiptment for the time being. I figured I'd post some pictures for all the people browsing who may have older equipment and be interested in Aperion!

For people worried about mixing wood stains...The old pioneer's have walnut wood and here they are (higher resolution) next to a cherry speaker and a cherry table....

Anyway I think if I get any more stuff I may not be allowed home although I'm dying to hear the 6T's! The small cable running toward the camera is a 3.5mm headphone cable to connect my laptop to the receiver via a 3.5mm to RCA cable. I highly recommend!

I'm trying to decide on a finish for an upcoming speaker purchase (4T or 5T) and wondering if anyone had some close ups of a speaker with the cherry finish they could post. I've seen the black finish in person so I know what I would be getting going down that road. The cherry looks great from the pictures I've seen, but they have all been from a distance and it is difficult to get a good sense of the color & grain.

Hey folks. I can't afford the whole 5 series system in one shot so I'm purchasing the components over time. I'm starting off with the 5Ts and I've attached a picture of the current setup (click image for larger size). I'll update this thread over time as I get the remaining speakers. I'm definitely desiring more base so I'll probably get the 10D next.

One question. I have a big hollow space behind the TV. Do you recommend I put the base box in there (when I get it), or should I just place it on the side?

My living room project is finally ramping down. It took me a year but It was well worth it. I'm thinking I want to put some vertically long pictures to the sides of the TV or a shelf above it, what do you thingk?

Anyway, here's what I got going on in there:

Yamaha HTR 5250 receiver – an oldie but goodie
Aperion 532 L'Rs, 422's, 533 VAC
Velodyne DPS 12 (hoping to be replaced by a Bravus one of these days so I can put the Velodyne back in the basement where it belongs. But it goes low, is smooth, musical and blends in nicely with the Aperions superior soundstaging
Sony Playstation 3
Panasonic 50PZ700U
Monoprice wall mount and cabling ($25 for a nice wall mount, $5 for HDMI cables, $12 for High quality digital optic audio cable and $7 for high quality subwoofer cable, are you kidding me!)
Custom built speaker stands to match fireplace mantle- priceless :)

I know the equipment list might not be quite as elaborate as some of you guys, but it cost a heck of a lot of money and hard work to get the room where it is now. I would have loved to get towers, just no more money left in the bucket :( Plus, the media experience in there is beautiful as is. Nothing like dimming the lights, throwing a movie on your panny and listening to the surround raise from the depths of the Aperions! Last night I enjoyed the season fnale of the Sarah Conner Chronicles in HD! Awesome

So here are some pics of my room before and after. I apologize for the image quality, my digital camera batteries died so I had to use my camera phone for the after shots. I couldn't wait to get these pics out here. If you guys have any coments on speaker placement please let me know. I originally had the Velodyne on the right side of the room in the corner and it sounded boomy and didn't blend in to well, know I have it on the left and you can't hear it but you can feel it :)

Room Challenges for sub & surround placement

I just ordered the Intimus 5T-DB Hybrid HD system (5T towers, 5C center & 5DB dipole/bipole surrounds, Bravis 10D sub) after reading the review of this system by Steve Guttengerg and looking at the owner reviews of the individual components). I have an odd shapped sunken living room with many challenges. I'm trying to decide the best placement for the subwofer and the surrounds. This first picture shows my exesting old setup. I'm wondering if the subwoofer could go into the recessed area (46.5" wide X 28" deep) above the TV on the top shelf or if placing it in the corner on the brick where the log holder is situated would work? Also in the 2nd picture you can see my challenges for placement of the 5DB surrounds (eithe wall mounted directly behind the couch or possibly having the right one mounted to the open staircase pointing to the side of the couch and the left one I would need a speakerstand for the 5DB and fasten the stand to the first step up towards the slidding window to have it point at the left side of couch. This might look odd but may sound better. Any suggestions on this challenging room? If my pictures do not display I will include the link to them as well. Odd picture #3 is displaying and not #1 & #2! The links seem to work though!
